Ramones Rocket To Russia

The MC5 knew how to play. The Stooges knew how to play (Asheton was an incredible guitarist). They weren't virtuosos, they didn't flaunt technique, but they had it. It’s not at all a cliché that punk legitimized the guitar, no longer an "elitist instrument" in the hands of a chosen few, but suddenly exalted as a "weapon" to be wielded by anyone who wanted to. That there were also valid musicians in punk (Simonon, Greg Ginn, to name two) is beyond doubt. It’s not a cliché, it’s history.

yes yes it's true, let's break it down, the importance of the Ramones lies entirely in having told all those pretentious progressive virtuosos to fuck off. Punk cleaned the slate, at least for a while. unfortunately shit always floats back to the surface :)
Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse Dark Night Of The Soul

@ AZZO: the first 2 of the seahorses remain undisputed masterpieces of today's rock. A song like "Saturday," with its melancholic simplicity, still sends chills down the spine even today. "Dark night..." doesn't reach those levels, of course. But in my opinion, it has a freshness, especially in the first part, that our guy had somewhat lost in his recent works. Give it a listen again, okay! :)

Good job, I liked it. The Ramones represent the sacred triad of punk, alongside the Clash and Black Flag. GABBA GABBA HEY!!!

@GASTA: they are definitely less immediate than Interpol (whom I don't really like that much), deeper, and they need a bit of listening to be appreciated... enjoy!

Good bisius, I got to know you through a fantastic review you wrote about Fluxus (by the way: thank you for the kind words, the review of "pure wool..." will be out soon) and I find you again with another excellent review on these Yakuza, which I don't know (I had read something...). What can I say? I will take care of it right away, especially since you mention the Naked City of the great Zorn, whom I hold in high regard. I’ll let you know. Well done again!

Alright, you’re a joke... but if you’re not, you really turn me on with that little air of a daddy's girl (obviously if you’re a woman)... you look like you came out of a Federico Moccia book/movie. I’d love to spank you all.

@ GASTA: if you like Interpol, listen to "I love you but I've chosen darkness" (that's what they're called, I swear)... and then let me know.
