Herbie Hancock Maiden Voyage
Voto:
Great album, but Hubbard and Williams here are showing off a bit too much. Although, of course, the class is there, and masterpieces like "dolphin dance" prove it.
Horace Silver Song For My Father
Voto:
Perfect album. Absolutely magnificent Horace Silver. "The natives are restless tonight" is among the most beautiful pieces ever written.
Aerosmith Aerosmith
Voto:
For this album, a 3 is too low; it's phenomenal!! I would give it a four if not a 4.5. The only thing it lacks is that you can feel the Aerosmith holding back; they're not unleashing all their devastating fury...
Elio E Le Storie Tese Craccracriccrecr
Voto:
Discrete album. None of the helium records I've listened to so far (italyan rum, studentessi, craccacriccrecr and the first with the impossible name) are masterpieces for me, due to the same systematic problem: The heliums always exaggerate. In this album, there are masterpiece songs that are nothing short of untouchable, and useless songs, when not insipid. This album indeed is no exception, there are gems (evviva/la visione, il rock and roll, dear 2000) and useless, insipid songs (bacio).
Francesco Guccini L'isola non trovata
Voto:
3.5 Useless pieces (the title track, "Il Frate") and gems ("Un Altro Giorno E' Andato", "Il Tema", "Canzone di Notte"). Lovely arrangements.
Dream Theater Images And Words
Voto:
Dream Theater underrated? But they are among the most overrated bands in the world! Technique is not everything!
Meshuggah Catch Thirty-Three
Voto:
I don't know, there are some nice pieces, but there are also arpeggios that last 20 minutes that just grind your gears.
Mike Stern Who Let The Cats Out?
Voto:
Yes, it's true, when I saw him in concert about a month ago, he easily let people approach him, joked and took photos with everyone, just like the others (even Dave Weckl, notoriously grumpy!). Imagine that the band arrived half an hour late because they got stuck in traffic; they walked in with their instruments slung over their shoulders from the same entrance we used, and Mike had a smile with 867206 teeth... just the entrance was worth the ticket!
Black Sabbath Feat. Tony Iommi Seventh Star
Voto:
On the cover, Tony Iommi looks like Diego Abatantuono from the golden days.
Curzio Malaparte La Pelle
Voto:
Fantastic book, read it; it's something wonderful. I haven't seen the movie.
