Pupo, Emanuele Filiberto, Luca Canonici Italia amore mio

Come on, let's not try to find hidden meanings in a song like this. I consider it one of the most shamelessly blatant cash grabs in the history of music, truly nauseating. It's disgusting. And the song, no matter what is said, is intentionally made to divide (just like half the songs of some other artists... right, Povia?) because it's well known that controversies create publicity. "Italia amore mio" has lyrics that, in comparison, make Marco Carta the heir of De André. Rhetorical and banal phrases repeated over and over, and even the music doesn’t save itself since we're also talking about harmonic progressions so trivial they verge on plagiarism. Of whom? Well, I don't know, for example, "Don Chisciotte" by F. Guccini when it comes to the verses.

I like the album. It may not be a masterpiece, it doesn’t add anything to the boss's career, but it’s a good honest record, with a couple of gems. Quite different from what Springsteen usually does, but I think he did well not to try to create another "born to run" or similar. And The Rising is a great album.

I really like this album; I acknowledge that it is objectively inferior to the previous ones, but I prefer it to the first.

In fact, I put "with due exceptions" =). The drumming parts of the early albums are all very beautiful, then it becomes something sporadic, just like the writing of masterpiece songs. So, if you were to recommend me some solo Plant?

@fedezan you are right! He was aware of this story about recording techniques, if I’m not mistaken there’s also something to do with the positioning of microphones in front of amplifiers, I don’t remember well, I don’t want to say nonsense, I’m not an expert on Zeppelin like you =) I don’t know what to tell you, I don’t like the change in sound, they’ve lowered the bass volume, emptying the sound and making it less energetic... on top of that, add the trivialization of Bonham's drum parts (beautiful in the first three albums, nothing special afterwards, always with the necessary exceptions), Plant’s vocal issues, and the stressful life they led, which surely didn’t help their health. I repeat, I completely understand why they are praised and considered by many as the best "classic rock" band (let’s call it that...) but I still prefer other bands.

Hey, let me make it clear, I'm not saying that Led Zeppelin are bad. I like them, I'm not crazy about them, but the first three albums are incredible. From the fourth onward, they've lost their way; it's mostly a matter of sound, it feels much emptier and it energizes me less. Of course, they've continued to write masterpieces (stairway to heaven, nobody's fault but mine, achilles last stand, over the hills and far away, kashmir), but in my opinion, that's been sporadic. Above all, Zeppelin's albums all smell old to me. Stale... I understand the revolution they brought in the '70s, but they haven't stood the test of time like many albums by The Who (not all, obviously). I repeat, I really love the first three albums, and I'm certainly not saying that Zeppelin were hacks; I'm just saying that The Who seem much more contemporary to me than Zeppelin. It's pointless to deny that the airship dominated the '70s; that's the plain truth, but my heart belongs to The Who =). I know very little about Plant's solo work; you could say nothing, I listened to something a long time ago that turned me off. But I want to make a case for his voice... I mean, people get old, guys; it’s normal that his voice has changed. Plant did the best thing, which is not to keep squawking like a goose trying to imitate someone else or his golden age self like some do (someone whose name starts with b and ends with rian johnson, just to name one). He has shaped his sound based on the changes in his voice, and that's how great artists operate.

I don't know the album. I've heard almost the entire album "the year is one" and it's not bad, although it gets tiring after a while. And I really like black gives way to blue.
