Nirvana Live At Reading

I don't like the review, don't take it personally. All this romanticism applied to Nirvana has really bored me. The album is a pathetic commercial move, given that it was already released on DVD (I've had it for two years, bought, I believe, in Berlin). The concert is hauntingly sad, with this man destroyed by his new life. The only legendary thing from that night was at the end of the concert, with the Stratocaster gifted to the audience... yes, fluff. The best Nirvana concert remains either the one in Dallas, with the pale belly, or the one in Amsterdam... that was the best moment, when they still didn’t understand what was about to happen. Amen.

Yes, I'm a bit contradictory, but not too much. In the end, I'm only cruel to those I don't know :) It's true that if one doesn't tinker a bit, it's a mess, but it used to be much messier. Someone would give you a suggestion, you'd go to the shopkeeper who would check the store and then tell you it was out of stock. Then you would try to order it and often you had to pray, and most of the time, you prayed in vain. Now, someone complains because they have to tinker a bit? Come on, that seems like the bare minimum. Surely there have been groups that had something to say and then dissolved, it's obvious, but I doubt that whatever they had to say was strong enough to crumble due to the little attention they received. It always comes down to how things are done. If someone wants to pay their bills with it, they've chosen the wrong decade; if someone does it because they enjoy it and pays their bills with something else, then they’re welcome, there's room for everyone.

Hi Pablo, hi. They're good, anyway.

Look, if a band breaks up because the audience hasn't grown from the initial 30, it's a crappy band, and they might as well buy a motorcycle and go have fun. Music is made, period. Those who complain are the "indie by misfortune" types, the ones who, if they could, would sign with a major label but don’t because no one cares about them. Those who do certain things for specific reasons will never complain about 30 people because they know that's their crowd. When I go to see someone, I want, first and foremost, not that they think like me on everything, but that they share my same ethic... otherwise, I won't buy your record; in my free time, you can go park cars illegally for all I care. A band breaks up when they have nothing left to say, not because of the size of the audience... otherwise, it's not a band, but a television show.

But look, for me, they're not at all an unfulfilled promise. The old album is a masterpiece, something that has never been done with such urgency in Italy, and it says exactly what I wanted to hear at that precise moment. This is not the masterpiece that the previous one was, but I'm talking about personal tastes, nothing objective of course. This is a good album that is easy to listen to, with several things I like a lot and other stuff that doesn't fully convince me. So, for me, they are far from an unfulfilled promise, in fact, I've been following them since One Dimensional Man, then through Super Elastic, and I saw the first concert of Teatro six months before the album came out. As for their increasing audience, that's their problem and doesn't concern me; the only thing that changes for me is that while before I found a "family" atmosphere even at the Teatro concert, I no longer find it. I find assholes who share the Teatro on their iTunes with Arctic Monkeys and similar crap... and that's not my problem, but theirs, the band’s, but they are like that, Paolo wants to influence (maybe even hurt... he’s been saying it since the first interview) reality and these are the means. For me, music is not sharing; in fact, I don’t share anything with anyone, least of all music. Sometimes, when I want to connect with someone, I go for a walk through the alleys and among others, as Pino Daniele used to say, but I’ve stopped thinking that everyone is beautiful, everyone is good, everyone is okay. Things may be improvable, but not through a song. Music is music; nonetheless, there must be a certain respect for what one consumes and a bit of respect for oneself through what one consumes (Feuerbach). I assure you that even someone working on a construction site, if they are a passionate listener, can enjoy the Teatro without needing collective endorsement or for Agnello to go to Sanremo to sacrifice himself for "alternative" Italy. These are bullshit; today everything is available to everyone, anyone can reach anyone. If someone only shows up after the band has gained recognition, they are a "posthumous birth," and that’s their problem too, they have the right. Anyway, no axes to grind. I say my piece, you say yours; it’s part of the game. No problem, in short :)

Someone give Stoney a nudge, maybe he'll say something intelligent too.

Women, enviable for men. And what the hell!?! I remember a sketch by Covatta where he explained why a father is jealous of his daughter... because he remembers when, as a teenager in the grip of hormonal storms, he thought "if I were a girl, I would sleep with everyone." Well, is that really my daughter? That is the enviable awareness, as she is not only self-aware but also aware of those around her. If a man sleeps with a transgender person, he is an unresolved gay; if a woman explores on the sapphic side, she is simply more evolved and uninhibited... always tied to that complex of honor, duty, and the complete package that makes a man a "man," which often results in a man who is insincere, stony, and at risk of a heart attack. When it comes to awareness, he managed to say something right; after all, it happens to everyone... just that he doesn’t provide the specifics because he knows he would like to be as aware - from his sexuality to his personality - at least as much as a woman. Of course, without generalizing, there are plenty of idiots just as there are plenty of silly girls... but better the silly girls and without percentages.

Well? You form groups, play, and then you dissolve. It’s evolution. I prefer concerts with thirty people, most of whom I might know... like at the concert of the Afraid. Thirty in total and all familiar faces. I prefer it this way, I have this inclination towards masonry, what can I do? There are a lot of masons in Italy, there’s room for me too, right? Then “if they were fresh American artists with a triple luxury vinyl we’d all be there to praise them” I don’t think you’re saying that to me because I was praising them when we were, indeed, thirty praising them, and, guess what, I even have one of their vinyls. Wow :)

No, but indeed. That's his job (promotion and salvation), making him do the second year was a huge mistake. To stay safe, we needed someone to build a team in the first year and he’s not the right fit because he doesn't understand anything. If it were up to him, he'd still put Savini on the left.

If there were a ranking of coaches, Reja would certainly be at the bottom. His Napoli was a mess—long ball from Cannavaro, header from Sosa, a layoff, and the ball goes to Lavezzi who takes care of it himself. Napoli should have gotten rid of him before his second year in Serie A; we would have had fun. Then, after every match, he would come out with "Pinco Pallino played out of position." Reja may be a gentleman ('who cares'), but as a coach, he’s worth nothing.
