@schizoid: I don't like "Contagion" either, even though many praise it. As for Fish, I'm going to piss a lot of people off (is the usual fat guy coming??), vocally he doesn't blow me away. However, hats off to his charisma, his interpretation, and especially his poetry.

@dream: you know that I actually don't like "Pride" at all? Despite the beautiful "Sirens." In fact, in their early albums, Arena remind me of the sound of Marillion. But then with "The Visitor" (very beautiful) they shift to Floydian sounds and with "Contagion" they even approach prog metal. @heaven: thanks to you too for the mention.

Thanks also to schizoid and big chris for the lift. Considering you can take it home for 10 euros, I think it's a good buy for anyone who loves rock.

I listened to "luminous night," which isn't bad at all. Is this one on the same level?

You're right, you've been polite and not everyone on this site is. I was just curious to know why you constantly feel the need to reiterate that you don't like this genre.

Nes, let me try to explain myself better. You had asked me which were the good prog metal albums, and I mentioned a few that I consider good. I didn’t talk about masterpieces, even though I believe some of these are. I specifically mentioned Images and Words and Perfect Symmetry because I disagree with your judgment. It's a matter of taste. I didn't mention the subsequent Dream Theater albums because I don’t like them much either. I'm not a fanatic of prog metal myself. I wrote about "Dead Winter Dead" that there are some prog traits (but that's just my opinion on that specific album); I’m not saying that Savatage sounds prog. I also don't like Symphony X; I do like Fates Warning (and "A Pleasant Shade of Gray" is excellent to me). But the point is not here. You are free to express your opinion, but you’re not the holder of universal knowledge either. You don’t like prog, that’s fine, we can come to terms with it. There's no need to remind us of it every time and everywhere.

I'm late, but well done dream! The review is great and this is a nice album. However, I don't consider it a masterpiece. He is definitely a keyboardist with real chops. What hasn't Swedish prog produced in those years???

I consider excellent albums, without using the word masterpieces: "Images and Words" by Dream Theater, "Perfect Symmetry" by Fates Warning, the self-titled album by Shadow Gallery, "Holy Land" by Angra, the self-titled by Saviour Machine, "The Perfect Element" by Pain of Salvation, and I’ll also throw in "Dead Winter Dead" by Savatage (which has some prog elements). These are the first ones that come to mind.
