Depeche Mode Ultra

I don't know if it was clear, but the last comment is detrimental. "Ultra" may not be on the same level as previous masterpieces, but it's still a great album.

Thanks for the compliment, my friend. I largely agree with what you’re saying. I like "Spiderland," just like the already mentioned "Mr. Beast" by Mogwai. However, GIAA are the ones in the genre that come closest to my tastes, even though they are somewhat derivative and repetitive (in the sense that they repeat the same musical formula).

@prog: I know, I know, I also like the mogwai. In reality, the "postronz" was a more clever (or idiotic, depending on one's point of view) play on words.

Hi Schizzo! Indeed, Post Ronz... oops... Rock is stuff for you. :) I'm sorry for stealing your bread, I thought you were more inclined towards the "lullabies" in this genre. ;D Anyway, the previous one is a nice album and it's not reviewed. Thanks to you and santalessio for the kind assessments.

I guess it's the second one... and so this is to average it out!

I know nothing about him except the wonderful cover by B.S.&T. of "Without Her." I didn't like the original, though. It doesn't inspire me at the moment. The review seems slightly below your excellent standard. Or maybe it's because you've gotten us too accustomed to the best?

Good morning and thank you to everyone present. I should mention that post-rock is not exactly my genre. In other words, I don't really connect with certain expansive sounds like Godspeed You!, A Silver Mt. Zion, or The For Carnation. For those who don’t know them, GIAA are definitely simpler and closer to rock. Other than that, I don't find many similarities with Mono or Explosion, except for the way they approach their music. @core: no, it's not shoegaze. The closest comparisons from my point of view might actually be Mogwai or Giardini di Mirò. @jargon: for now, this is my favorite album of theirs; I don't find it tiring. But obviously, I've only been listening to it for a short time to pass a definitive judgment (which for now would be 4).

In this album, Schenker is more restrained, but paradoxically he manages to shine even brighter.
