I can't believe there are people who gave less than 5 to this review...

So if I understood the story of Dopesmoker correctly, it should have been more or less like this: in 1995 the master of Dopesmoker was presented but was not released by the record label because it was too difficult. Sleep went back to the rehearsal space and re-recorded the album, shortening it and dividing it into 5 tracks. The production company (I don't know which one) rejected the work again and Sleep disbanded.
Three years went by and in 1998 a bootleg version of Jerusalem was released by a friend of the band. In 1999 the album was officially printed.
Finally, in 2003 the original version of Dopesmoker, which the then Sleep had presented as the album following Sleep's Holy Mountain, was released by Tee Pee Records (I believe).
In 2007, if you're interested, "Asbestosdeath," a collection of pre-Sleep tracks, was released by Southern Lord Records, and there's also a nice review of it here on DeBaser (written by someone I can't remember but it's really great).

I just went to check on Wikipedia, and it actually confirms that dopesmoker is from 2003... Who knows what the reality of the situation is... It doesn't matter much though; the more I read the review, the more it makes me want to puke.

Look, I was convinced that Dopesmoker had never been released, that instead they had released Jerusalem, and then in 2003 the original master of Dopesmoker was given to the presses... (I don't really consider Jerusalem). Thanks for the clarification. (I already knew about Pike, though...)
I also agree that the review isn't engaging (and rereading it, it seems a bit poorly written). I'd say that a 3 is the most suitable score.
By the way, do you know if these guys have done anything new?

It's pointless to talk about it any further—5 to the film, 3 to the review; sequels ruined this masterpiece as well. Those who can't see the masterpiece in this are speaking a different language than mine. Those who need to find deep, hidden meanings in the film to judge it as a masterpiece speak a different language than mine. Its communicative power, given by editing and cinematography (and, of course, by special effects), has left an indelible mark on the world of video-making. Ten years after its release, Matrix is still a reference not only for cinema but for a whole range of communicative media. In 2009, we can't overlook Matrix (there's even an advertisement for a pill against menstrual pain that references it...). In 2009, it was adrenaline injected into our eyes, sprayed directly into our brains. Those who saw it in theaters know what I'm talking about.
