This story of degrees of separation is not new to me; maybe I've already seen this movie? Damn neurons.

Well done, beautiful review. Unfortunately, you are right about death, and I believe it is the fault of our Catholic culture and not just the dominant materialist thinking that is its consequence. On the other hand, our official religion cannot give us answers to too many things we should know. One example is that the early Gnostic Christians believed in reincarnation; I think this was later modified in an ecumenical council in favor of resurrection. Having to imagine that we remain in our graves for millennia waiting for the final judgment does not make the vision of death very serene. Eastern religions have a very difficult approach for us Westerners; very often, they cannot be absorbed due to a different view of reality. Fortunately, by studying spiritualism, I have come closer to a way of conceiving death that is very satisfying.
