Regarding my previous statement, it's true that it may come off as disrespectful, but it carries a very specific meaning. Prog-metal generally appropriates an aspect of metal that I find more contemptible: that sense of raw and often cloying melody, that sophisticated singing, often in falsetto and sometimes in growl (which in these contexts is quite a questionable choice), arrangements and structures of the pieces that are already overly exploited. It should instead manage to evoke anger, drive, the dynamics of metal, that energy that reveals its essence. There are few works that fit within this context, for example: "Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects - Sol Niger Within."
