Stephen Daldry The Hours

I just finished rewatching it. I can only reaffirm my 5. This film conveys an emotional depth and a "rawness" in portraying distress that is almost unbearable. Stunning.

The subject of the "little monster" that presses/is laid on the chest/abdomen is the traditional representation and conception of the nightmare, which was thought to be a being that pressed down on a person while standing on top of them. Thank you for the enlightenment on the term "nightmare"...I had never noticed it o_O

Yes, I agree, there's hardly any straightforward black metal here, just the foundation as you say. I really appreciate Katatonia, especially after their shift, but the emotions I find in Discouraged Ones I can't seem to find in the subsequent albums. I like them, yes (especially The Great Cold Distance, I must say...), but I find slightly different emotions. It might be because I associate Discouraged with a particular period of my life, so that's probably why I find those emotions "unrepeatable" :) I'm eager to hear the new album ("Night Is The New Day")! I’ve already tried Sentenced, but they left me absolutely indifferent. From what I’ve read, they seemed like they were supposed to be depressively unimaginable, but I didn't personally find any depression :D It's a different story for the immense My Dying Bride: that's a mine of sadness, but a different kind of sadness... well, I'll make do with listening to Discouraged on loop XD

@S4doll: I'm not ranting against this particular movie—I haven't even seen it (I didn't grow up with the Jason saga, I'm just 20 years old, and the saga started in 1980 according to all-knowing Wikipedia), but I do have an issue with American horror films that are all cookie-cutter, always the same, always featuring a malformed being and/or one hungry for revenge because they were mistreated as a child / experienced some trauma or for whatever crazy reason. I'm amazed that people actually go to the cinema to watch this kind of movie...

Ah ah ah! XD I can't believe it, but how predictable are these "movies"?! Goodness...! Big beer, please :)

The first one is about trust. They’ve been pissing me off with these "horror movies" that are all the same! There are very few good horrors left nowadays, and they’re always the ones that have a "metaphysical" or "supernatural" twist in my opinion (but that don’t fall into the banal). What happens before they leave? Uhm....don’t tell me Jason comes out of the lake! :D If so: what a load of crap!!!

Good afternoon to you, Mr. ResidenceDeceased. I am pleased that you appreciated the de-page. I envy you infinitely for the fact that a storm is approaching your area. Unfortunately, my dose (to be honest, quite small) was yesterday, and today I have to endure yet another wave of sun and heat. Enjoy the leaden sky filled with clouds on my behalf as well. Regards, ambient...
