@SognatoreItaliano: just review records that don't already exist, and you're good to go. However, preferably not unknown bootlegs of the Dreams, otherwise you prove to be a repeat offender!

@Nes: why, excuse me, is Baudelaire taught in middle school? I had read it long before buying The Flowers of Evil! It's just that I hadn't started reading it before then. And don't tell me that NORMALLY a third-year high school student knows Baudelaire's work.

"I'm sure I'll soon be writing more opinions about them." Is it a threat?

@supersoul: exactly, I'm forced to study in August. But not the Fleurs du Mal, something heavier (for me). The review was a kind of "homage" and I didn't see it as a homework assignment. A bientôt! (but also no)

[catatonic mode, rocking back and forth with arms crossed:] "Tell me it's a fake...tell me it's a fake...tell me it's a fake...tell me it's a fake..."

@HardRock: So next time, add a cute emoji so it’s clear you're not serious! You know, like XD or ^_^ or :D or come up with your own :) About the review: it stems from the fact that I wanted to testify that a trivial act like making the purchase ended up influencing my future. If this principle went unnoticed, I don’t know what to tell you. @Supersoul: just for the record: I don’t go to school. And finally: as we say around here, "in one ear and out the other." If you get it, great; if not, oh well.

"This after the intoxicated boat by Rimbaud is MY book...and you insulted it by making a very cold analysis." Hey, guys, let's not take ourselves so seriously, okay? What the hell!

@Empoisonnée: I didn’t explain how it changed me because I didn’t think it was relevant to the review; if I had included it, I would have been accused of egocentrism for writing about myself in the review, right?! ;) However, I wanted to convey that the simple purchase of a book turned out to be important after a few years, even though I understood its significance much later. You were close, though; after reading this book – I say again, at the time superficially, but that was enough to show me the way – I gradually felt the need to explore Literature (with a capital 'L'), to become passionate about writing, and eventually to take an interest in languages (and here’s the ultimate effect: it drove me to enroll in Languages, Literatures, and Modern Cultures after I graduated as a computer technician! Tell me if that’s not a change! :D). But I didn’t think it was appropriate to include all this in a review, don’t you think? ;) Thank you for your clarifications, anyway. The authors you mentioned I have only heard of by name, but I believe that with the coming years of French Literature, I will know a bit more than I do now (apart from Swedenborg, of course, whom I might read on my own) :) You’re right, I didn’t mention the women of Baudelaire (one above all, Jeanne Duval); it was a significant oversight, and it came to my mind when it was too late. Since you seem well-versed in French literature (university studies?), do you know such Isidore Ducasse, the Count of Lautréamont? :)

By now, it's clear that we think differently. I’d say we should leave it at that since we’re not going to get anywhere. :)
