I really loved this film. The creators used the internet and media in an exemplary way for pre-release promotion, creating an aura of mystery around it. I believe there are still people who think it's all real... Certain shots are nothing short of unsettling - those with the black-and-white cameras, when it captures the forest, the abandoned house, the walls covered in bloody fingerprints... truly evocative. It generates a lot of tension and the final shots - albeit so simple - are terrifying. It has already become a cult film, it will remain in the history of cinema, despite having many detractors. The sequel, on the other hand (which has nothing to do with it), is just a piece of crap. But this... 5.

I can't stand Within Temptation and Nightwish (who have nothing gothic about them, actually) have lost their edge; they were better before. Let's say that 95% of that kind of "metal" I can't tolerate, I prefer something else. As for the TOT: let's wait and see what they do for the next album. I believe I'll listen to this one only a few times, alas...

:| What?! I can't believe it!!! XD I can't take it anymore either... I review one part and forget another, and so on -.-" Plus, I have a monograph on the History of Professions in Contemporary Europe. Yeah, I mean...really interesting and light stuff :S

@ALEX84: yes yes, indeed in the review I mentioned this fact about the greater variety (growl and piano/synth foremost), but in my opinion it lacks in terms of "grabbing" the listener, it slips into anonymity too much. When I heard the sample of "Hide and Seek" I was excited, thinking I was facing an album that would be captivating and dark... but unfortunately, it wasn’t. It’s not a bad album, but it’s just... I don’t know... "diluted." And then there’s too much space dedicated solely to Nell, I really don’t like that at all.

But yes, I understand tastes, of course! What I regretted is that you - mostly because of their outward appearance - relegated them to posers. The decision to present oneself with an aesthetic backdrop is very subjective; if the FF didn't see the need for it, they didn't do it. This is to say that it's not the music that dictates whether one "must" or must not wear a mask...look at Anaal Nathrakh: they make a delightful mix of black metal/death-grind/industrial, yet they perform in jeans and t-shirts! :D Anyway, Ensoph have not stopped wearing masks; they change their outfits. The gas masks have given way to more unique masks, because they were becoming stereotyped (like the classic face-painting in black metal, for instance), so they sought alternative and personal ways to avoid being pigeonholed into the definition "those who wear gas masks." But we’re digressing too much... It’s perfectly fine that tastes exist (imagine how boring it would be otherwise!), I just regretted that "they can go plow the fields" and that "poser," which in their case is really out of place.

ALEX77: they don’t use gas masks anymore precisely because they've become overused in the industrial metal scene; they’re always trying to find new "disguises." Posers? Believe me, the posers out there are quite different. Aside from musical tastes—which, of course, vary from person to person—I’m sorry you feel that way because they do it out of passion, not for image (they don't have a contract with a major label!) and because they have a very personal sound. Posers, on the other hand, copy. It’s fine if you don’t like them, but relegating them to the role of “musical toddlers” is a no, I'm afraid.

@ALEX77: well, who said they should be compared to AIC?! They only made a cover, their musical proposal is light-years away! I swear that in their field they are among the freshest and most unique things out there, and it’s true. The aesthetic backdrop is part of the "game", the show, and live I assure you it helps create a certain atmosphere. I haven’t talked to everyone, but Massimo and Cristiano - bassist and guitarist - are two good guys. Awful? Absolutely not, on the contrary, one of the healthiest things in experimental metal of the new millennium (which indeed has nothing to do with AIC, but no one claimed otherwise).
