Between a Pornosonic record and a Cicciolina one, this morning, while wandering on DeBaser, I asked myself: "But why should I continue to review brutal death/grindcore bands as uncouth and ignorant as Carnifex, Annotations of an Autopsy, Suicide Silence, and company? Why don't I also switch to red light music? Perhaps I've been wrong all these years listening to extreme metal, maybe the good Llona Staller could bring me back to the world of humans. And who knows, thanks to her, I might even find love." As you can see, I'm in the middle of a confusing period, one of those moments where the old certainties of life crumble, where the band members begin to tire of doing a good job (whoever understands the quote wins a set of pots from Mondial Casa), in short, a moment of transition. After all, we are all in constant change, there's nothing strange about it.

As always, though, there's a "but": as long as bands like Trap Them keep circulating, I will never be able to detach myself from metal completely. The Seattle band, in fact, is gradually emerging from the musical underground as one of the best examples of death/grind of recent times. "Seizures in Barren Praise", released last year by Deathwish Inc, marks an evolutionary milestone on the path set by our guys. Their sound recipe offered here consists very simply of:

- Half a kg of Nasum;

- 400 grams of Entombed and Dismember (especially in the abrasive guitar work);

- A sprinkling of Converge in the rhythmic structure of the songs;

- Salt and pepper to taste.

To be served very, very hot, et voilà: the Trap Them cake is served.

Frantic and lightning-fast tracks that literally overwhelm like boulders, and that last no more than 2 minutes on average (excluding the closing track "Mission Convincers", 7 minutes of sludge borrowed directly from folks like Eyehategod). If you want to get an idea of how these Trap Them sound, listen to tracks like "Flesh and Below" and "Targets", probably the best on the album.

The CD is very short (just 25 minutes in length), but rest assured, it's enough to break all your little bones, from the first to the last. I warned you...

I don't think there is much else to add, obviously I'm not here to tell you about every single track because rightly no one cares a fig, I just gave you a general idea of the disc in question. Now excuse me, but I have to run off to study, since I have an exam tomorrow and if I don't pass it, I'll get a kick in the butt (I know, I know, I should already be in the books, but I'm a time-waster, and what can I do...).
