Once I used to play it with enjoyment and, rarely, I won little bundles. Then the group bought fish, dealer, and various mats, and it became like a drug for them... they even set their alarms for midnight to watch that shit with Ciccio Valenti, miners, and various idiots. I have a friend who spends hours and hours a day on it, both online and at bars and little clubs. One day we taught him Bingo with French cards and he crashed, he basically needed to redo all the calculations from scratch, re-statistic everything. He built an architecture of actions-reactions limited only to Tex, Teresina, and similar games: yes, he became a monster that wins around 200-300 euros a month, but humanly we’ve lost him. He’s extremely depressed and depressing.

For me, this and Shadow of the Colossus bored me to death after 2 minutes... maybe I was coming from a phase of playing Call of Duty and GTA... who knows... let's just say it's strongly in that Japanese style, so I understand why I was falling asleep and dozing off during every Miyazaki film. I never enjoyed killing pedestrians, looting, robbing, and so on; I was mostly interested in the missions, and what a thrill it was when a new initial appeared on the map of the current mobster giving you new tasks. Transcendental. In 4 years, they had the chance to exponentially multiply their intentions and ideas with 2 stellar sequels. The 4th one didn't make the same generational leap that San Andreas did, as GTA 3 did with 2. But perhaps it’s the current generation of consoles that lacks serious ideas...
