I read the book several years ago and it didn’t seem bad to me (not a masterpiece, quite the opposite), but once the murderer was revealed, the remaining 200 pages were dreadfully dull, completely pointless and just there to add bulk, because you know, a thick book often catches the eye. But do you know that I don't remember this overly lengthy beginning? I really don't recall the start :D Now I'm going to reread it. From this review, I’ve gathered that I need to read something by Lansdale, and quickly!

The cover shown in the review is not the most common one; the edition you can find everywhere is the Feltrinelli one that was reprinted a few years ago. They practically give it away at the supermarket, take advantage of it :)
