Great review, I'm still guilty of being stuck at the quite zone with them, but then again, with everything there is still to listen to...

The problem is that it’s marked as "unavailable," even the bookstores I used to go to said that officially it’s not out of print but then they don't have it anywhere :(

Anyway, unfortunately, I've tried to look for the kraut-rock sampler around but it can only be found online at ridiculous prices; I had never heard of Rolf-ulrich Kaiser’s, do you know if it’s still available?

well, anyway the fundamental elements of their sound are already present in their debut; Faust Tapes, which I still consider beautiful, doesn’t really add much new compared to the two previous ones. @leonar: if you're up for it, we should review "rien" and "do you know faust?" which deserve a spot in the de-database (even if they don’t reach the first 4 masterpieces) ;)

Well, the Faust Tapes is always a masterpiece (like all four of the first albums for me), but historically/musically and in every other sense, the most important is the first one (and I actually like it slightly more than the second and third, but just a bit); while Faust IV I find to be the most accessible, and indeed it's usually appreciated by people who don't usually go crazy for kraut.
As for Ash Ra Tempel, I think this one and Schwingungen are roughly on the same level, although this one might be a bit more accessible because it's more "rock-oriented."

@michoos: speaking of kraut, definitely check out Faust (my favorites and I think they're quite "accessible" for the genre); I would recommend at least listening to the self-titled and Faust IV (maybe start with IV).
