De Lorenzo, my dear, you are the one who gave 5 to the utopian book of Belusca with your gaze fixed on the horizon, right? You can tell. I agree with everything that the various Lupin, nes and the crew said above. You damn wishy-washy hypocrite, and then they talk about Fabio Fazio...

Just the rating leaves me between astonished and indignant, considering that you are reviewing the entire bibliography of what is probably the greatest American poet. The review and the remarks about the author, then, were the icing on the cake. I give it a 0 to fit it neatly into my grading scale: 5 masterpiece remembered over time, 4 above average, 3 average, 2 below average, 1 garbage to forget, 0 offensive and misleading for those who, unaware, are about to read this review.

I quote Squall. To support his argument, I can add that all series always end in the same way, that is, with Sailor Moon defeating the final boss thanks to the collaboration of her friends, without whom the big bad would certainly have taken over. "Sailor Moon" is undoubtedly the most explicit and powerful celebration of team spirit and friendship ever portrayed in a Japanese anime: the only indulgence our friends allow themselves is a crêpe or an ice cream every now and then; otherwise, they are sensible like few other characters. Now, the fact that a huge marketing campaign surrounds the series is another story, but the values promoted are there and they are strong, unlike "Winx Club," which borrows from "Sailor Moon" only in form and not in content (the scenes where the five girls judge a boy based on his looks are abhorrent, whereas Bunny declares throughout all five seasons that she loves Marzio because he has big dreams, big ideals, and so on). "Sailor Moon" is overly utopian, "Winx Club" is disarmingly bleak; the only thing they have in common is a team of superheroines with very short skirts, a strongly superficial aspect.

Excellent review and excellent book, necessary in Italy and inconceivable anywhere else in the world (civilized or not... not even the fundamentalist Islamic sultan from ten centuries ago in "One Thousand and One Nights" behaves like $i£vio). I heard Travaglio live at a conference for the book presentation (where he practically said everything that's mentioned in the review) and he was quite passionate in stating that this book does not present debatable hypotheses, but CONCRETE FACTS that, regardless of political affiliation, should catch the attention of readers due to their seriousness, a seriousness that Travaglio emphasized as still lesser than all the other crimes of the psiconano, like various mafia collusions, financial and economic schemes, various conflicts of interest, etc... but as he said during the conference, since the average Italian understands only about sex and football, now that the subject has been lowered to this level, well, he should have realized the invisible moral stature of the B€r£u$ka. A little anecdote that Travaglio shared during the conference: the word "escort" does not exist; in English it means "escort" and nothing else, and in no language in the world does it mean "prostitute"; similarly, the word "imprenditore" never means "pimp, brothel keeper," not even in translations of other languages. Travaglio recounted that these words were invented by the news team at Tg1 as euphemisms to talk about these matters without uttering the magic little words, so that one could say the sentence “the pimp Tarantini provided ten prostitutes to Berlusconi” disguised as “the entrepreneur Tarantini provided ten escorts to Berlusconi,” and no one saw anything strange because they didn’t understand (in fact, it made it seem like a dealer had sold ten Ford Escorts to the Prime Minister, which was even better). Thank you, Marco Travaglio.

The issue is that the great idea that the creators of the anime had, contrary to the author of the manga, was to broaden the target audience: "Sailor Moon" is a FAKE cartoon for girls because, in reality, it is a cartoon for boys filled with service (decent and tasteful), increasingly shorter miniskirts, an enormous cast entirely composed of females (whereas in more stylish cartoons for girls the more guys the better; here we have just Marzio, Moran, and Dr. Tomoe against 500 females), half-naked busty villains (admire Sailor Fantasia and Vulcania link rotto and above all, tons of gags which are a typical trick to keep boys glued to the screen (while tons of feelings are used for the girls). "Sailor Moon" is a comic for females and a cartoon for males, and it’s also excellently made. @nes: look, if we assume that at the beginning it was conceived only for otaku (the die-hard animation fans), then over time it became so successful that all of Japan was watching it, and the staff, when choosing between lowering the level to appeal to the mass audience or leveraging the increased budget to create something better, chose the latter path and raised the quality, aiming for a truly high-quality fairytale aspect. Just watch the first episode of the fourth season: Part I ~ Part II ~ Part III

@squall_leonhear: I also think "Dragon Ball" deserves a 5, that’s not the point. The point is realizing that "Dragon Ball" is a 5 and not noticing that "Sailor Moon" is also a 5!!! Anyway. The Utena movie is amazing/crazy!!! Expect a review from me on the series while I expect one from you on the movie! ;)

The review is very interesting and makes the album sound quite inviting to listen to, but it doesn't say much about the record (perhaps precisely due to the impossibility of categorizing it as mentioned), which is, by the way, beautiful. Great recommendation.

Welcome to DeBaser! Nice review, album not listened to (but I'm more interested in John and Ringo's solo stuff than Paul and George's).
