Steven Spielberg Schindler's List

@kosmogabri: you’re right, but what’s the point of getting angry anymore? Personally, I’m moved and despair for what happened, and I take this film, like all films, songs, books, works of art produced about WWII, as warnings for the future (which they are).

There are various mistakes here and there, and I don't feel like listing them. A very lukewarm review for a very important work of art.

@nes: Giovanni Allevi proclaims himself the most important musician of our time, the man destined to change the fate of music, the misunderstood artist bearing ideas so genius that they are too ahead of their time for the miserable contemporary listener who fails to appreciate his talent. Since there are those who have expressed much better than I what I think of this musician, I’ll link you directly to this site: le Malvestite » Blog Archive » Giovanni Allevi, In viaggio con la strega, pare che Dio sia dalla sua parte: non gli fa piovere ai concerti, l’ha eletto a nuovo San Francesco, gli manda gli angeli travestiti da tassinari milanesi – si rafforza la mia opinione su Dio Britney is an artistically terrible porn star who got lucky with two or three nice hits, yes, but at least she doesn’t expect her portrait to be hung in the foyers of opera houses or her plaster bust to be placed on the shelves of music classrooms for having only produced elevator music albums. My chart: 1st Arisawa, 2nd Spears, 3rd Allevi.

I can’t vote without knowing either the band or the album, but I must say they have a really stunning name, and just that makes you want to listen to them.

Takahata in "Grave of the Fireflies" sees the war from the perspective of the Japanese proletariat, and Spielberg in "Schindler's List" views the same identical conflict from the perspective of the German upper bourgeoisie. Both masterpieces, both moving beyond measure, both powerful admonitions. In this film, the scene of the ghetto roundup is Art, and the little red girl makes me cry every single time.
Isao Takahata Una Tomba Per Le Lucciole

Wonderful review and a masterpiece film that brings me to tears every time I watch it (and I’ve seen it many times): I’m sorry to say it’s the only truly worthy film by Takahata, as all the others are either exercises in style, or incredibly dull melodramas, or films based on feelings and events so delicate that they often brush against the line of boredom. However, this does not detract from the absolute quality of this exceptional film.

@nes: at the risk of igniting a viral fire (note: THIS is NOT my intention), I can't help but say that Giovanni Allevi is DEFINITELY WORSE than Britney Spears. At least Spears provides us with ways to appreciate her (videos where she appears scantily clad), while Allevi only seeks my disdain by proclaiming himself the Mozart of the 21st century with his elevator music, which is "definitely less mediocre" only at the moment we consider the piano less mediocre regardless of the result (which, by the way, the piano is also in this OST, so logically speaking, not even this OST is tacky). I mean, to each their own, and this motto is the cornerstone of this very site that hosts us, but in my opinion, Allevi is not a great artist.
J.G. Ballard Super-Cannes

Thank you all for the comments, you are very kind. Ballard has an enormous bibliography and his latest novels truly serve as moral testaments; I reviewed this one in particular because it seemed particularly comprehensive as it touches on pretty much all of his typical themes, from urban planning to mass media to violence and a thousand other things.
M.C. Escher Mani Che Disegnano

Good review and intelligent work like all the ones left to us by Escher (but my favorites are the graphic experiments). He might seem like a poster or puzzle artist, but I agree with blechtrommel in appreciating him as a genius artist.
