@ Bartleboom: yes, all the colors were very vibrant, especially the warm ones; in some scenes, however, there was a deliberate desaturation close to black & white. Visually, if we don't want to call it successful or not, we can at least say it was certainly very refined. @ amev: before watching the movie, check out the cartoon which is really beautiful, and especially if you don't know the plot, you might not understand anything from the film (it's really convoluted).

@ signorprog: you’re listening to the wrong radio, tune into Radio Capital and you’ll hear King Crimson and whatever else you want.

The book is truly one of the best examples of literature of all time, without a doubt. As for Christie’s film adaptations, I side with Bubi, and I don't find them great films either: most deserve a mediocre afternoon on Rete 4, but I think the reason is simply that Christie’s books are very "literary" and very little "visual," so the film versions either distort the book or are just boring and ineffective. That’s why I believe Clair’s adaptation is really fascinating: the screenwriter utilizes cinematic sensory perceptions (colors, lights, sounds, rhythms) and brilliantly enlivens the plot. I enjoyed it, in short. P.S. to jackskellington: why did you reveal that Philip and Vera are not the murderers??? If someone hasn’t read it yet, now they know that two out of ten are not the killers! Regarding the discussion about the word "giallo": as Bubi says, we all know perfectly well it comes from the covers of "Il giallo Mondadori," which publishes mystery, thriller, noir, etc., so I would say the concept in Italian is rather broad.

Dear Romeo, I take the liberty to heavily criticize Giusy Ferreri because I am a fan of "X Factor," a program that, in my opinion, has both television and musical significance. Last year, I followed it all, and the worst contestant, the least pitch-perfect and most annoying on a human level, was undoubtedly GIUSY FERRERI; the fierce defense (and breasts on display) that Ventura mounted only worsened my opinion of her. The songs written by Tiziano Ferro count as negative points, not positives! The fact that she has been successful means absolutely nothing: Morgan and Massimiliano Fuksas are right when they say that Italy is a country of ignorants. Giusy Ferreri is not only a terrible singer, but it also annoys me that she acts like a big star, claiming to be "the moral winner of 'X Factor'" or "the great success that came out of 'X Factor'," as if the real winners weren't an excellent vocal quartet, the Aram Quartet, whom Maionchi sidelined to promote the obnoxious Giusy. But then again, she really does have a nose for music: she was the one who discovered Mango and Tiziano Ferro. If it were possible, I would give her a zero.

@ Bartleboom: in my opinion, the film by Kyashan wasn't entirely worthless, but it wasn't entirely successful either. Visually, it had remarkable peculiarities, and the music was entrusted to the best musicians in Japan (including Utada Hikaru, who was the director's wife at the time), but the narrative had some glaring gaps... and I'm not referring to the plot, but to the way it was told, which sometimes made the scenes feel somewhere between boring and incomprehensible.

@ starblazer: but that's not true at all.

The Hugo Award is the Oscar not for "literature" as a whole (that would be the Nobel, if you will), but specifically for the science fiction & fantasy genre. A comic book that has been read and is beautiful, of course, but a film I haven't seen yet (in fact, given that the director is the one from "300", I'm quite scared).

A singer who, recommended or not, I really like and I also find very talented (plus she's pretty and I even like the cover, take that). Of course, a 5 is really too much, but an honest 3 (if possible, 3+) is well deserved. She's genuine and releases honest records.

Congratulations on the review, I really enjoyed it. I'm not familiar with the text because I have the Ragazzini from Zanichelli, the DeAgostini, the Rusconi and several others, but not the Oxford.
