When I first saw the video for "Muscle Museum," I immediately thought, "Here they are, the next big thing." For once, I was right: the Muse are among the shining stars of contemporary rock, and the more they progress, the better they become. As for the album: "Muscle Museum" is brilliant, the rest remarkable, some things mediocre; three stars are just fine.

I understand attacking Marco Cartaigienica and the other clichés of Italian and world music, but going after Dolcenera too... I don’t see the reason. She has always shown herself to be a lover and connoisseur of great Italian music (just look at the stage name she chose), she is an excellent musician, she has a voice, she has stage presence, offstage she is a calm person, and she even writes very respectable songs... and yet the criticism comes pouring in. Well, I don’t get it. In fact, I vote to raise the average a bit.

Welcome to DeBaser! A somewhat sparse review, perhaps simply because it's my first. ;) I think the album is nice: Dolcenera has changed her look, but she has kept her talent—neither mediocre nor exceptional, but honest, clean, and effective—which positions her as one of the best young mainstream singers today. I have always liked her since the first Sanremo and her dark look, and she has vast room for improvement: she's already quite good, and I'm convinced that over the years she can only get better.

@ Bubi: the fake triggering element is one of Hitchcock's most brilliant inventions; for this and many, many other reasons, I join the French nouvelle vague directors in defining Hitchcock as a genius. @ jackskellington: in the TV guide, I discovered that next week Rete 4 will fill all its afternoons with films based on the investigations of Poirot! :D

@ signorprog: you really had bad luck, but I advise you to insist. Otherwise, as prima_guarda says, go to Virgin Radio, which is basically Ringo's iPod (I've noticed it cyclically broadcasts the same songs with a weekly rotation, I think): the selection is wide and varied.

@ jackskellington: I share a bit of everything, especially the part about rational engagement that obviously works on paper but not in a film where you only have a little over 2 hours at your disposal. As for Hitchcock: in my opinion, he is THE director (maybe I've already written this elsewhere), he is, from my point of view, the highest expression of cinema and if he didn't choose "whodunit" mysteries, perhaps he was right.

@ alia76: yes, upon rereading the comment, maybe I was a bit harsh on poor Maionchi, who after all is a good professional, and if she is the head of Sony Italy she probably deserves that position. That said, Giusy Ferreri remains the worst singer for years now.

@ signorprog: if you don’t listen to the radio, how do you expect to find one that plays prog? It’s like wanting chocolate ice cream but not wanting to go into an ice cream shop! ;D Anyway, trust prima_guardia and me and try giving Radio Capital a chance (especially Mixo, in his show, plays only stuff he likes, meaning rock, glam, prog, psychedelic, and in general 70s music), then let me know! P.S.: I’m pleased to note that the conversation has completely drifted away from the singing mussel mentioned in the review. Better.
