Kanye West 808s & Heartbreak

The video with the Maroon 5 singer directed by Michel Gondry, where Adam and Kanye go around a store at night using beds as toy cars, is brilliant, and the song is really beautiful. As for the rest, I like it just okay.

The review is, as usual, a bit weak, but better than usual, keep it up. A very interesting album, but I agree with pluto1992 in saying that there was so much going on that the barbecue party was only halfway successful: alongside great tracks, there are some of the worst pieces not only by Madonna, but in HISTORY (yes, I'm referring to the terrible "Take a Bow"). "Human Nature" is an excellent song & video, "Secret" is very beautiful and "Bedtime Stories" was fine for those years, but today it feels a bit lackluster despite the important contribution from Björk.

@axel: I also think it has moments of brilliance drowned in seas of monotony. I will still try to give it a chance.

First I had my suspicions, but at this point I am certain: I am wrong to not consider Kanye West a genius. I mean: the whole world is falling at his feet praising him, and I'm the only one who doesn't, clearly I must be mistaken. I could understand if it were just the two of us seeing him as a regular singer (enormously superior to the hip hop average, sure, but still not exceptional), but if I really am the only one then it means I'm on the wrong side. P.S.: hip hop is spelled with an H, yes, but coincidentally hip-pop with a P is the name given in Japan to the genre sung by the famous star Namie Amuro (who is beautiful, but musically I don't like).

My highlights: "Like a Prayer," "Bedtime Stories," "Ray of Light," the misunderstood "American Life," and "Confessions on a Dancefloor." "Erotica" and "Music" aren't fantastic, but they contain some gems and, above all, make sense as parts of a larger journey; "Bedtime Stories" is beautiful EXCEPT for the horrible "Take a Bow," which is one of the worst whines I've ever heard in my life.

A slightly unattractive review, but truly an excellent album: my very first musical purchase was the single of "Frozen," which I listened to until it was completely worn out (and in the end, I bought all five singles and also the album XD). This album is definitely Madonna's masterpiece: it has a bit of everything, as you say, and above all, the sound is outstanding. "Nothing Really Matters" is a perfect dance track, "Shanti/Ashtangi" is hypnotic, and especially, "Drowned World/Substitute for Love" is definitely among the best songs of the '90s and perhaps of the 20th century in general, truly genius. The album deserves a solid 4 stars, but I give it 5 to raise the average a bit, as ignorant people have enjoyed lowering it by giving it undeserved 1s.

@kosmogabri: forgive my insistence, but if it’s possible I would like "appoggio" to be corrected in the last sentence of the second paragraph as well. I swear it won’t happen again, thank you.

@Franci!: maybe I exaggerated, sure, but maybe I tried to propose a really interesting work instead. Try it and see.

@the avenger: Ryutaro Arimura, the singer of Plastic Tree. He often poses for very elaborate and theatrical photo shoots, in line with the aesthetics of visual kei.

@kosmogabri: I was convinced I had written "arpeggio"... I kindly ask the editors to change "appoggio" to "arpeggio" if possible, thanks! @geenoo: còrfico? What does it mean? If it's a joke, I didn't get it.
