Lars von Trier Antichrist

A really well-made review that, despite the low rating, invites you to judge with your own eyes rather than to give a blunt vote on a work: thank you very much indeed. Von Trier is a fascinating character even in his detestable vanity, which I have always followed and will continue to do, fully aware that his work isn't always art: I'm not exactly a fan, I'm more of a curious spectator wanting to see where he's headed, where he wants to take me (and it could very well be Parnassus or a precipice, who knows). I haven't seen the film yet, and I completely skipped the first comments because it seemed to me that they might contain spoilers.

A delightful review to read that deserves an extra star for the work of research beyond the album and for the non-musical discussions, which are always interesting. A fabulous album; I certainly don't need to repeat it when it's already a fact that the reviewer makes it very clear.

@S4doll: no, no, check it out!!! It serves as an incentive to then move on to the comic! ;)

Welcome to DeBaser and my deepest congratulations on the choice of title, undoubtedly one of the best comics of the '90s... comics in general, not just manga. The sociological analysis that the author performs is exceptional (there are moments of great literature), the artwork is raw and perfectly fitting, the various stories are well-crafted, but more than anything else, the characters are legendary: Eikichi Onizuka of course, but also Urumi Kanzaki and especially the vice principal whose life falls apart day after day, embodying a tragicomic essence that has a Shakespearean quality, and I'm not exaggerating. TOTAL CULT moments: the vice principal's crest being ri-ri-ridestroyed yet again, the students going out for sushi and claiming they'd never seen it in their lives, Onizuka buying the PlayStation 2 after spending the night in a sleeping bag in front of the store only to have it get wet, the incident with the Mercedes won in the lottery, Noboru Yoshikawa's confession of the tortures endured, ... and so many others.

One extra point for the review just for the mention: Lene Marlin is a minor diva with huge artistic potential that she pours into her absolutely delightful records. A couple of months ago, when I found out she was coming back to the scene, I was truly moved with happiness: straddling the 90s and the XXX millennium, she was a reference for truly precious quality pop, and I was saddened by her disappearance. Lene remains with us, maybe she comes back now and then, but she stays! Album not yet listened to, but knowing her very well, I am convinced it is just as the reviewer describes.

I hope the reviewer will forgive me, but I can't help but agree with the many commentators above: it came out yesterday and it’s already a hip-hop masterpiece??? Doesn’t it need a bit of decantation to realize, in a few years, whether the album is still listenable or just a momentary commercial hit? Moreover: most awaited album of 2009... for you. Not to mention that it’s still May!!! Personally, the most anticipated album of the year for me is the new single by Plastic Tree coming out in June... that doesn't mean I claim it’s the most awaited of 2009; we can judge in December. As for Eminem: the first album was, let’s say, decent, the second less so, the third even less, and so on; he’s going downhill more and more. My advice: he should retire, since he has already made his money, right? He can continue to churn out his delightful clothing line if he really needs liquidity: someone will surely buy it.

A review tinged with a great love for this album, which is very good and especially comes from my favorite English band (Oasis die now).

@KurtTheFish02: Rai Tre forever. If the law passes that takes away Rai Tre's advertising slots, I'll do as a friend of mine suggested: I'll throw the remote control away, I won't need to change the channel anymore.
