Opeth In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall

I don't like making rankings, even personal ones, when the music is of such a high level... but I will always be fond of BWP! My first contact with Opeth was thanks to Morningrise, exceptional, there's no doubt about it. Months later, a friend lent me BWP and I was literally blown away (in a positive way): I couldn't believe it was the same band, what class! Unforgettable, in particular, the dissonant beginning of The Leper Affinity, which seemed endless the first time, truly "frightening."

Yes, I listened to the samples on Amazon (blessed be) and they convinced me.

@casamorta: I can't understand this strong attachment to Lindgren; honestly, I consider his contribution fundamental only for the first three albums, after which he became a performer in the hands of Akerfeldt's monopoly. Akesson is a guitar hero, capable of things that neither Lindgren nor Akerfeldt could ever do; he has allowed Opeth's music to take another step forward in terms of complexity, thanks to his technique. I don't know what anyone could argue about him... in fact, there is something: he's chubby and messy? Lindgren was tall, thin, with long, straight hair, a real cool guy!

Well done, great review, and compliments for the track-by-track, essential when one wants to do a detailed analysis, as in your case. I own the album but have never bothered to listen to it; maybe it's time I did. The rating for the work will come later, I imagine.

Thank you all for the comments. @Hell: the songs are linked within the review, what are you waiting for? :) Anyway, the older songs always turn out well for Opeth; perhaps it's because it's "easier" to update the sound of their early days, aided also by the keyboard. The same goes for The Night and the Silent Water and, especially, Under the Weeping Moon, from The Roundhouse Tapes.

I thank JURIX for the recommendation, I listened to the samples of World Demise on Amazon and they convinced me!

Was it worth it? Was it worth it?!

Not bad... but I'm stuck on The End Complete, and a bit discouraged by the conflicting opinions, I haven't continued with Obituary's discography. Is it worth giving World Demise and BFTD a listen?

Pleasant and clean review... I wouldn't be so confident about the return of Stratovarius!
