Larrok, I hope your reasoning isn't based on the assumption that everything that sells is commercial and consequently becomes crap. In Metal, as in every other genre, there's the excellent, the good, and the mediocre; it's up to the listeners not to be fooled and enchanted, and to understand what truly deserves attention and what doesn't. All the bands you mentioned are indeed part of a big melting pot, but they have absolutely unique and vastly different characteristics; each has its own audience, some are more cross-genre and manage to satisfy different segments of listeners, but certainly not everyone likes everything, not even in Metal. That it happens to be a genre that sells, personally, makes me happy...

In my opinion, you are all unwell. Let everyone listen to whatever pleases them most, whether it’s the latest ultra-guttural-death metal release or Mr. Cobain's "pop" songs... Because that was what it was about, POP, but the good kind, obviously in a punk-noise-guitar flavor.
In the end, I believe that those who have a true passion for Music (and not the sector fanaticism that many seem to be prey to) can appreciate the value of a song regardless of the guise in which it is presented.
Think a little about John Peel, the late English radio DJ: in his show, you could hear EVERYTHING: grind, folk, dark, punk, noise, and even pop... All music that gave EMOTIONS, or followed those of the one programming it.

@19tristezze: I don’t know if you’re a fake or not, but you must really have some issues to enjoy shooting bullshit like this, and a lot, a lot of time to waste. Sure, if you’re not busy jerking off with both hands, you can always use one to type at the computer and pass your sad afternoons that way. Nice, really nice...

The review is written rather poorly, I’ve never had the chance to listen to the album.
For the rest, I’m really happy to see that the idiots on this commendable site are still around... Better, that way I don’t feel alone.

The collaborators that Madonna has chosen for this album are all getting on my nerves; considering that none of them have ever proposed a single song that I liked, and that a friend of mine who is a Madonna fan listened to the album at Ricordi and then told me that it doesn’t seem that great, I would say I’m giving it a trust vote.
And you, sweet little dull_flame, could also wait a few more days to post the reviews, since the album only officially came out yesterday; I understand that the eagerness to be the first to review this epic album is comparable only to the excitement of opening presents on Christmas day, but come on...

@alexander: I don't understand why people get so angry about this... anyway, even though I don't know much about music theory, I can assure you that "Core" and "Purple" (the first more than the second) sounded QUITE similar to other stuff that was popular in the early '90s to my miserable twenty-something ears... Whether people listening to these records now think they are cosmic crap or immortal masterpieces doesn't concern me too much; the fact is, back then they sounded very, very derivative. And forgive me for harping on it, but when I first heard "Plush" on the radio, I actually thought it was a new song by Pearl Jam... Sure, not "Even Flow," but still a song in their style.

So I saddle the mule and see if I can listen to it again, since my outdated cassette player has been missing for ages...
