Before getting covered in steaming excrement from BJM fans, I want to specify that I've chosen a band AT RANDOM among those I know and have listened to recently, without them particularly impressing me. There are several albums of theirs available for free download on the site; maybe I just haven’t understood a darn thing and need to listen to them again...

Doctor, it seems to me that almost everyone here has a great time mocking others' tastes. I'll tell you more; like in all environments with pseudo-cultural aspirations, there are also snobs here, and from the many comments I've read, it turns out that (as far as I understand since I registered) the metalhead is always a loser who knows nothing about music, only about swords and dragons, while those who listen to jazz are cool by default, and some elevate themselves above everyone else, positioning themselves as the sole carriers of absolute truth. A few years ago, I would have struggled to admit the following, and perhaps back then I might have been labeled as ignorant (they say people change, we always hope for the better): it’s possible that those who appreciate and derive emotions from metal aren't just ignorant simpletons, that sometimes jazz listeners get bored of 15-minute sax solos, and that those who paint the (to name one) Brian Jonestown Massacre as geniuses might (just might...) not have necessarily understood everything about life.

Full center. You convinced me to give a 5, just to raise the average.

Really good. I know them, but not the album, I'll vote based on trust.

Judge, and you're telling me that I'm touchy? I already knew that! :)
Anyway, you're right, maybe I took it a bit too personally, and that's why I'm not leaving DeBaser; I want to stay here, with all these lovely people... At least until someone suggests I set myself on fire, at which point I'll take action and immolate myself like a monk.

I think you DeBaser phenomena have a pronounced tendency to insult people (for no reason). In a day and a half, I've been called an idiot, a jerk, and a human case... By whom, it's not exactly clear.
I sincerely hoped this would be a site where we could calmly discuss our opinions on what we like, but evidently, that's not the case.
I care little about being the first or the latest arrival on DeBaser, just as I do about your glorious past, Dr. Fottermeier; I believe I employed the weapon of irony (perhaps crude) in my last post, but I didn’t offend anyone, and I don't even think you're so stupid as to waste time posting the same comment on 25 reviews of "Accelerate" (assuming, as someone joked, that so many actually come out)...
If the reactions I receive are veiled insults, either I haven't expressed myself well or, as a jerk, I am in good company here.

So I would be a human case... And how come?

Dear Tollani and Fottermeier, it's a pity I can't poke fun at you for your musical tastes; I don't know some of the bands you've mentioned or reviewed, and the ones I do know I also like. In any case, you copied and pasted the same post for two different reviews of the same album, which reflects poorly on you... Come on, we expect a little effort, a bit of creativity! And you, Dr. Fottermeier, are also asked to show a bit of courage; dive into the fray with some reviews and let's see what you come up with.
As for the album, it may not be the masterpiece of the decade or of a career, but for those who have been listening to R.E.M. for 20 years (like me) or longer, especially for the fans, I think it’s a welcome return to the past. The argument "if this album had been released by someone else" doesn’t hold water, because nowadays certain truly awful bands are massively promoted, lasting (maybe) for 2 or 3 albums before disappearing. However, to be at the forefront, one must inevitably follow the trends, and if someone has been playing for over 30 years (and can actually write songs), they’re considered a jerk.

Sorry if I put "Pop-rock" and "Indie-rock" as genres, but I stared at the list for 10 minutes and couldn’t make sense of it anymore... I ask the editors to sort all genres in alphabetical order, thanks.
As for the review, when I wrote it, there were none published, and I had been listening to the album for ten days already (I don't think any of you would consider that strange), but of course, I waited for the album to be released before writing about it.
To those who say it's old music that has been heard a thousand times, I reply that it’s probably true; then I go listen to the blues of Robert Johnson and frankly, I couldn't care less about those opinions.
