But how long after the suicide did poor DFW die? Did he stretch it out too much there as well?
There are books that I buy and read right away, others that I buy and read after a long time or in bits and pieces, and others that I struggle even to purchase, knowing that it could take YEARS before I give them the attention they deserve. This is one of those books.

That said, in my humble opinion, Mrs. Elton John's best album is "Madman Across The Water"; this album here does not deserve the treatment it received, both in terms of the rating and the review; the first paragraph is a head-banger, and honestly, it almost makes me regret being a die-hard fan of Dream Theater (thank God not of Marilyn Manson...!).
It's important to remember that good ol' Reg Dwight produced something like ten or eleven albums in just over five years, and right here we can see the presence of some not-so-great tracks, which is fairly normal for a double album. A suggestion: listen to WHO's version of "Saturday Night's...", and try to assert again that the song is garbage.
The score stands at 3.80, rounded to 4 considering the wonderful songs contained within.

I realized that there are quite a few people on this site who act all high and mighty, so it gives me even more pleasure to give you the highest praise, as you demonstrate and convey true passion with your simple yet heartfelt words. I couldn't attend the concert, but I know that when Springsteen's die-hard fans gather, something good must come out for the mind, the heart, and to get people moving.

@PI-AIROT: As far as I know, unfortunately, there is no DVD with archive footage. Some time ago, there was a guy who was selling a homemade double DVD on eBay with old footage of many Italian prog bands from the '70s; the idea was good, but as you can imagine, it didn't last long. It's a shame that the footage exists, especially in the RAI archives, but that no one thinks about officially collecting them.

Well done. For the album, I agree with the other opinions... Decent and nothing more.

I suggest to the small group of the best reviewers on Debaser (it would be redundant to name names, you know who you are...) to open a parallel site, a sort of exclusive club in the style of Billionaire, where you could bask in the warm glow of the light emanating from your superior consciences, and revel in the innate taste that guides every single one of your most insignificant daily actions, while we bumpkins tear each other apart commenting on the three-hundredth review of Death Magnetic...

Yes, it's all true, and thank goodness Sid Vicious was a more commercially appealing icon than, I don't know, Peter Gabriel, otherwise today the streets would be full of kids in tights dressed as giant daisies or wearing fox masks on their heads.

@alessioiride: look, sometimes it happens that before writing something I do my homework (not on Wikipedia), and I read articles and insights written by English or American journalists (experts?) who lived through that damn transition of '77; there's not one of them that doesn't thank the explosion of punk for having "almost" swept away all the arrogance of progressive... If you then pick up "Mojo" or "Uncut," magazines that I regularly buy and trust for information on times I haven't lived through, it's all about transitions and sweeping away, from glam to punk, from punk to new wave, from new wave to brit pop, and so on. Regarding the issue of human cases, as I probably am one myself, I don't agree with you, considering the numerous dunderheads who listen to anything but progressive.

In Wurzburg, the famous "Rauchbier" is produced, the renowned smoked beer, the only one in the world with a aftertaste of grilled sausages. It pairs wonderfully with a nice pork knuckle (in the absence of the whole animal) or the classic 10 cm-sided cube of meat. Try to believe it.
