Oh my god, how heavy you all are! :D reeeeeelax... it's Saturday, as it was said! And yesterday was May 1st, that should have been the day to destress, today we need to be zen.

Once, I was put in front of it, but I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to follow a movie like that. Your review doesn't convey that there’s a story being told by the film; is it because there’s nothing more than a plot that makes it hard to review, or is there a key in the film that you haven't mentioned? Because I had promised myself I would watch it... I thought it was absurd for it to just be a little flick, especially since many people like it, but apparently I wasn't mistaken... Well, maybe the fans love it just because there’s Depp playing a dealer -_-''...

I don't know... it gives me the impression that he wasn't sure himself whether it was a coming-of-age story or not! The fact that he died leaves things hanging, so you can say anything or nothing about this film! It's certainly true that the quote "Happiness is real only when shared" and the fact that he had "forgiven his own" suggest a coming-of-age narrative, but to really understand, we would have needed to see how his life would have continued! Nevertheless, I partially agree with you when you talk about destruction... because his way of doing things "doesn't speak to me" (as I mentioned in my previous comment).

I watched the movie... well, it didn't really "touch" me... I don't understand his need to reset himself to find answers. It's like he feels like a frozen computer and needs to recharge from scratch to get to something, but in the end, it's something that we all unconsciously know, and it's unclear whether he has reached it (maybe he has, because before he dies he mentally embraces his family? who knows!). If I had to leave, I would do it in "joy," fully aware of what the world is, and I wouldn't do it alone; instead, he does all this instead of going to a therapist, so he can be fully active in the search (basically in the "old-fashioned way" of ancient peoples). The fact that he's dead certainly gives a chance to make this adventure epic (immature because it's a coming-of-age journey, one I would have embarked on at 17, not now, which is why the film didn't particularly resonate with me). He doesn't accept society in general, the issue of money and interpersonal relationships, but in the end, he doesn't even accept himself because if he really knew himself, he would know how to act in this situation, he would know what to do, who to seek out, etc. Instead, he has to figure out how to behave in the face of things, to find his own way of living! Because if you can't fit into the world, there are two options: 1) you stay alone, but then you feel bad because you naturally need others; 2) you try to conform to it, and hence lose yourself. Wouldn't it be better to try to do what you want, transcending the sad things that surround us, trying to surround ourselves with like-minded people? So only when you reach extremes to achieve a blatant conclusion do you become worthy of being told? Even though there are many ways that might not lead to an early death? Apparently, for those who write books yes, for the film industry yes, for me no... I don't judge his life because everyone should do what they please, but if it's presented to me as a story that teaches more than three things, I can't give it that. See you soon...

Well, now I'm watching the movie... later or tomorrow I'll give my rating and try to understand what purpulan wrote :D (too many difficult words for meeee, I've been awake since this morning and now I'm sleepy).

Ezekiel, did you get upset over 2 negative comments? I don’t know @@ if you’re convinced of what you wrote, you shouldn’t take it personally... then here intelligent discussions go nowhere, and we end up with 20 useless comments -_-"... bah bah bah bah!

I haven't seen the film, but I will at this point...anyway, if this guy really wanted to escape "from capitalism or from people or whatever," what would he say if he were alive seeing that his life has become a movie? And that his family sold the story (I read they were reluctant and blah blah, but they did it... so)? In the end, he became a capitalist product and his family turned their back on him again... I mean, I wouldn't have gone along with this, okay fine for the book... but a movie, bah... anyway, I haven't seen it, so my opinion isn't "set in stone."

Fiquata was shocked by the cosplayers :D! Anyway, there are some comic artists that I really admire as artists! :) Regarding the "stories," honestly, I've hardly ever found any that are lofty, but what drawings!

yeah yeah...the hardcore movement has been underestimated, but its influence in the years that followed is undeniable, for better or for worse. The thing is, there's not much knowledge of all this; it's not like the punk revolution of '77 or the hippies or whatever...everyone knows about them, but if we started listing what wouldn’t exist without that period, we would all realize a whole lot of things :)
