Look, I'm not exactly the type to criticize radio hits; in fact, I think it's a good thing if good/excellent music makes it there. The point is that with The 2nd Law, in my opinion, they really hit rock bottom—a record without ideas, disguised as an eclectic album with songwriting at its historical lows. It's hard to do worse; in fact, I'm sure this one is better. I'll welcome it sooner or later, the review, I don't know, a bit of a mental jerk-off.

I don't know, but I don't think there are people who would seriously sit down and listen to this stuff; it goes hand in hand with Ramazzotti this week.

I imagined it would be something like that, very nice review.

I would say more four than three, it was a nice surprise, patriotism? Yes, but not so evident, in my opinion.

Anyway, the cover reminds me of Mr. Bean when he dances.

this is probably their best, a masterpiece and milestone of the '90s (and beyond), although for me keep it like a secret, you in reverse, there is no enemy and unthered moon are also solid 5s, in my opinion superior to the various pavement or dinosaur jr, in every aspect.

The very fact that someone has written a "serious" review on deb's latest by Eros makes me burst out laughing.

I listened to it and I really liked Dark a lot, great songs, great atmospheres (besides the ones you've mentioned, right now I can think of Oh Yeah and Done, but all are great tracks). Maybe I’m being exaggerated since I just can't give less than a 5 to any Built to Spill album (I still need to listen carefully to the second one and I don’t know the first one) because I’ve truly realized that they are joining my other favorite bands that "strike a chord" with me. However, a 3 seems a bit low for this album to me as well, even if I understood well what kind of 3 you assigned, as you've thoroughly explained in your nice review.

The review, well, the album too because I haven't listened to it yet (I will anyway). As I've said many times before, I really loved them a lot back in the days of Origin of Symmetry and Hullabaloo. They disappointed me somewhat with Absolution, although I still liked them up until The Resistance, while The 2nd Law was really a mediocre album, in my opinion, with an embarrassing lack of ideas. Definitely with this one, at least from what I've read and listened to so far, they have bounced back. I will listen and revisit.
