The Muses really struck me with Origin of Symmetry; that's a splendid album. Here, I don't know, it's just the songs and certain arrangements that don't convince me at all. I like the apocalyptic tension of Take a Bow, Invincible moves me, City of Delusion and Knights of Cydonia are not bad, but compared to the second album, they seem rather insignificant to me. I agree with you that they try to please everyone now, which wasn't the case with the first albums.

Hi ugly panda, the only doubt I have is: can we consider the Pixies, who essentially only released Trompe le Monde, their last album, in those years, as representatives of the '90s? (By the way, the same year Nevermind came out, 1991). I see them more as absolute representatives of the alternative-underground of the '80s along with Sonic Youth, for example, and that’s why they were so influential for what happened later in the '90s.

Hi darkeve! I’ve noticed that many, like you, consider trompe le monde and bossanova to be inferior to the first two; I’ve always appreciated them a lot and they never seemed inferior to me, quite the opposite! Sometimes I even enjoy listening to them more than the first two, without taking anything away from surfer rosa and doolittle, of course. Is the cover totally different or does it just change the color, santalessio?

ehhe ok federock, I would say first doolittle, because it gives you a pretty heterogeneous idea of their style and flows well (and also because it contains debaser :-D) then if they grab you, you can also catch the others: in short, surfer rosa is quite crazy, in bossanova they change a few things and in trompe le monde they take up their style. ciao

Thank you all! @dlf I have already addressed the topic regarding the bossanova review, which I believe is an excellent and underrated album, far from being a weak point. They deviate somewhat from their style, but I see this as a strength.
