I mean to say that in My Bloody Valentine there's that contrast between dreamy melodies and hyper-distorted guitars that personally has an effect on me that I don't find in any other "shoegaze" band. Loveless, in this sense, is the unattainable peak, even for them (for me) in the genre. Of course, it's all a matter of taste. Slowdive is something different, and perhaps that's why you consider them the best while I find them perhaps (at least for now) the least interesting, or at least the ones I like the least. They have that melancholy that personally I can no longer handle in music; that's probably part of it. In Loveless I completely lose myself without thinking about anything else, while Slowdive makes me a bit anxious (that's also why, to give an example, I can no longer listen to a band like Radiohead), but this is a purely personal consideration.
