Genesis Selling England By The Pound

I mythologize Selling England... when? where? Anyway, I’ve listened to music too, don’t think otherwise, but the 5 for this album remains fixed.

xOleEinar: I'm sorry, but I don't quite agree with you. There are some albums that, in my opinion, deserve the highest praise, and this is one of those cases. As I mentioned above, Genesis are not among my favorite Prog bands, but one must recognize that their style is unique; they are among the greatest representatives of a genre that has made history, and Selling England is one of their best (if not the best) albums—5 is guaranteed. Even for those who don't like or can't listen to (for example) "Third" all the way through without getting bored, I believe they haven't understood it; naturally, they might not like the genre, so it's understandable if they are put off, but if they really enjoy the genre or even just find it interesting, they can't rate "Third" lower than 5—otherwise, (I repeat) they haven't grasped it fully. I don’t know if I explained myself well. Anyway, I think it’s also due to the voting system being too imprecise. If there were a decimal voting system, Selling England would get a 9-, Third a 10+, but in this case, they both end up with a 5. Of course, tastes are subjective, but I hope you understand my point of view.

Epic album! Classy music of a unique refinement capable of condensing moments of high technical depth with those of strong romanticism (not a small feat). It may seem like an easy work to grasp when compared to other works of the genre, but to be fully absorbed, it requires multiple listens (never as many as those needed for "Third" by the Soft :)). Anyway, Genesis' prog (like that of Yes) is not what I prefer; my whole life has been Floyd, Crimson, Soft Machine, Colosseum, Traffic, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf, ELP, Hawkwind, Gong... etc. And one last thing, in my very humble opinion, anyone who rated Selling England lower than 5 hasn't fully understood it.
