Al is a great doomster, maybe a bit shy but definitely a stage animal. The drummer confirmed what I thought about him, that he’s both an aesthetic of sound and a crazy hammer. The third one, the element X (or rather Lichens), did his part and opened the night with a 50-minute loop of voices, of which I only liked the surprising conclusion where he faded all the voices to end up with just the original and without a microphone. It wasn't a concert to see while drunk, and I was completely wasted. Some kids in the front row moshing even during "At Giza" made him (Al) nervous, and the last half-hour wasn’t exactly enjoyable. @Mr. Wolf: I started with Shelter From The Ash, and I don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing, but I liked it on first listen. I didn't see the concert but I saw them live; they were able to evoke Dream Theater for me, brrr what a thrill. He (the guitarist) is a monster but very self-absorbed. Good review :)
