@Tarpit: "they were born to NOT be an underground band" but what does that mean? Are there bands that are born to deliberately remain in the underground? And what do they live on? Royalties? Air? Straccismo? It could be the latter, but you have a totally wrong idea of the word underground. Then, in 2010, what is there to be constructive about in a discussion on grunge? :) Mr. Moustache: all "grunge" bands are built around the figure of the cool frontman, like Vedder, Cornell, Staley, the Screaming Trees themselves, and in every case there’s a guitarist hiding behind as the true creative mind of the band. This thesis of yours holds true for all "grunge" bands and for none. You're not saying anything.

Here is a valid exposure of thought: it's almost a track by track, it's a duplicate, curious and unusual are not the right adjectives to define "Vitalogy," Vedder does not emulate U2, and then you don't add anything new. Always the same tired clichés. The user's rating of the album doesn’t even match yours. Then the fact that it starts with "I hate Pearl Jam" shows how "objective" this review can be, in one word: useless.

This is one of the best, along with Ten, Vs, No Code, Yield, Binaural. They haven't invented anything, okay, they're derivative, alright, but in my opinion they've made 6 albums between a 3.5 (Yield), a 4 (Binaural, No Code), and a 5 (Vitalogy, Ten, Vs), the rest is crap. I understand it's very cool to mention Mother Love Bone, but I just can't get into them, with that shrill voice like Axl Rose...
