Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds The Firstborn Is Dead

I should listen to the album more closely; I know it a bit and I remember the beginning with "Tupelo," which is really impactful, with a possessed Cave over a tribal and apocalyptic beat, but honestly, it hasn't fully gotten to me yet.

Convincing words, but this record is poetry, oh yes it is, even the hair says so.

Psycho, I agree both on the covers and on the pleasure of holding an album in your hands, and on the fact that unfortunately, with all the music scene of these years, no one is able to give the right time to an album anymore, and there’s no time to listen to everything properly, to assimilate and digest it well. I often realize that the opinions I form about many albums are just impressions based on a few listens, while maybe the album deserves many more to be fully understood. It happens to me all the time, but I always have such a strong desire to listen to so much stuff that I never have enough time.

Ah, less irony too. It's true that we shouldn't take ourselves too seriously, but a joke is nice when it lasts a little. Still hello.

After this chance, there's nothing left to do but confirm it: idiot. Despite being 20 years old, I hope my comments help you reflect a little and that they serve you well. Learn to connect with others, less arrogance, and above all more sincerity. Bye.

Dinosaur Jr. are everywhere in '90s alternative rock, not just in Placebo (in which, obviously, and I shouldn't have to repeat this for emphasis, they are). Now, I made this comparison to prove that Placebo really has nothing new at all, and that their music was all already there in substance, already in Sonic Youth, and that subsequently it will be found in the Smashing Pumpkins. Come on, it's easy, really. I don’t give a damn about the value of Placebo for you or for me; the reviewer, in my opinion, made a mistake and I refuted it. Not to mention that on the value of Placebo, I completely agree with you (even if they managed to plagiarize me properly with their first albums), and I had already said ā€œtheir music is very derivative (to give some immediate examples, take a band like Dinosaur Jr., or the lighter things from Nirvana, a bit of Sonic Youth, clean it up and package it with glam attitude, and there you go),ā€ basically what you mean; but that doesn't matter at all, the discussion started for another reason, and if making constructive comments of this kind implies responses like "go play with marbles" (really a childish thing to insult for no reason), then I suggest you reassess yourself.

I simply said that Mascis' way of playing is present in many artists, and that Molko draws heavily from Mascis. I didn’t compare the two, simply because there is an abyss between them, and it’s true that Molko always composes with those four chords, but he has a style (not on the technical side) with many, many references to Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth (this could be debatable), and the Smashing Pumpkins. That’s what I want to say, simply this. Let me give you an example: "Little Fury Things" is a track that has set a standard for alternative rock, and it's undeniable that the way the guitar is played has influenced several artists. Molko takes from there, a lot. This discussion was related to the derivative sound of Placebo, and to demonstrate it I referred to other artists who invented that sound. But it seems so obvious to me. I didn’t talk about the technical side; I know how Mascis uses the guitar (one example is "The Lung") and I know that Molko has nothing to share with Mascis on the technical side, but the raw, tough, and rough expressiveness of Mascis' guitar is in Placebo (as in many other bands, I reiterate that I made the example to point out that Placebo is derivative).

Noose, I made a comparison because it seemed productive, as I disagreed with the reviewer calling the Placebo sound "unique." However, if this leads to snooty comments with attached insults, then you're right, I won't make comparisons anymore.
