A classic, I would say. The tracks are beautiful and captivating, and it's not "all technique and a drag" like in many of his other works, unfortunately.

I agree with Conte. I also think that Pat is not a fundamental jazz guitarist. And I also agree with tiz. Schizophrenia? ;-) This album is immense, probably it doesn't have any particular jazz merits, but it's great, unforgettable music.

@uxo: I hope I’m not misunderstanding, but since the "placebo" is something with only apparent effectiveness, while "medicine" is truly effective, it seems to me that you’re placing our discussion on very different planes compared to Pat Metheny’s more overtly "jazzistic" works. Is that correct?
