Um... I didn't understand one thing. What is a "derisory underlying seriality"?

Very nice review (it seems to me that it's called "Asperger syndrome"). The photo on the personal card worthy of a golden frame! ;-)

"Genres: Jazz Fusion." But what are Steps Ahead and Weather Report doing in the soundtrack? ;-)

"Vossabrygg": a whole different thing compared to "Odissey". You can easily find it online...

By the way, I remembered that I gave this album to a guitarist friend of mine for Christmas (the same one to whom I gave Terje Rypdal the year before: I know, I'm spoiling him) and he never mentioned anything about it. Did he like it? I promise to ask him, so I can see if I can contribute a bit more "technically" to the discussion! ;-)

You say, ajeje? Well, I don't know, I wouldn't want my words to come off as a criticism of the guitarist (which is not the case), but all the work on the synth guitar, on the post-production techniques... Let's say that when I think of him, I think of a musician who has a broader sound vision rather than someone who has done something truly innovative with his instrument... But we're talking about nuances, after all.

Let’s see if I can satisfy Conte's (legitimate) curiosity. The album in question (1987, also released by ECM), while very beautiful, is definitely less experimental than the aforementioned "Presenz"... It may have seemed that way at the time, but now I would say that its sound is decidedly established. The flip side (or the front side, it's up to you) is that for me it's an excellent starting point to get to know Torn's quirky and brilliant poetics. Moreover, in my humble opinion, the composer is more interesting than the guitarist...
