Well... On this I gladly defer to a colleague more knowledgeable than me. I saw the Weather Update (Or the Syndicate? I can't remember anymore) many years ago, and they left a terrible impression on me... No noteworthy instrumentalist, Zawinul holding back quite a bit, use of vocoder as if it were raining, at a certain point the drummer sings a little song that seemed written by Cristina D'Avena...

What a pain, comments on old reviews always please me!

Doc, one day you need to explain to me what algorithm you use to calculate the ratings of the reviews! "Typically Chambersian review"... Well yes, I am always me! ;-)

And with this, there are four reviews of Jazz guitarists on the Home Page... Great! :-)

I don't know why, but I can't give this album (even though I really like it) a 5. I would rate them like this: Solstice = 5. Anthem = 4.5. Matchbook = 4.5. @Muito, you're more biased towards Ralph Towner than I am! ;-) Did you see Oregon two years ago? I'm so envious, the last concert I saw was in 2001... Maybe I'll make it this year, but it's better not to mortgage the future... PS. Paul Winter's "Road" is truly exceptional. @Il_Paolo: we agreed to publish the three reviews together, but not on the content. It doesn't seem so strange to me that all three have some elements in common. And of course, none of us is anyone else's fake! ;-)
Ralph Towner Anthem

A huge BRAVO to Dr. Adder. I'm not giving a full five to the album, only because Towner had already extensively explored the solo guitar formula, with thrilling results ("Solo Concert"). Nevertheless, the CD is beautiful, with compositions that blow me away ("The Lutemaker," "Anthem," "The Prowler"). The opening track "Solitary Woman" is the leitmotif in the soundtrack (almost entirely composed by Ralph Towner) of the film "Un'altra vita" by Carlo Mazzacurati, featuring S. Orlando and C. Amendola. A must-see.

A heartfelt thank you to my "snack buddies," especially to Conte, who managed to post the review despite the chaos of the new house. And thanks to the editors who gave us the incredible gift of placing the reviews one after the other. Together, I believe we have succeeded in giving the right spotlight to a truly great artist. That said, the album is absolutely fantastic, and the review, in perfect "Conte-style," does it full justice.

I prefer it in other contexts, nice speech though.
