"Don't move" is first and foremost a beautiful book. The film lacks the visceral connection between Timoteo and Italia and does not emphasize the mediocrity that characterizes the protagonist. At certain points, in my opinion, the film boils down to the simple story of a man who takes a mistress, completely stripping away the significant role that the state of his daughter should play, as it does in the book. I don't know where you derived this supposed misanthropy from Castellitto and Mazzantini, as I assure you that the characters in print are all (whether right or wrong) filled with humanity and, above all, fragile. I also don't see all this pessimism towards the world in the film, and being a drama, it certainly couldn't progress without challenges. And saying that Penelope Cruz is saved is a bit reductive... she's exceptional in this film. I want to add that I agree with Poletti also because it bothers me that an American director (a good director, okay... even if he doesn't particularly excite me) comes to criticize Italian cinema, even though he is indeed in uncharted waters.

Great review... I didn't know it was the same director as "Palindromi" (A film that honestly left me a bit disappointed)...

I'm not a big expert on Allen's cinema, but I’ve noticed that the only constant is the theme of the bourgeois man-woman couple; for the rest, "The Goddess of Love" has little to do with "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion" or "Husbands and Wives," just to name a couple…

The review isn't bad. Brody Dalle has the Hole as a constant reference point, as well as other female rock bands (that some of them might suck is another story), so I don’t think you’ve exaggerated at all...

But how much I detest this guy, you can't even imagine... Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I believe one should be aware of their own culture and not mimic someone else's to achieve musically poor results. Our language can't perform the same acrobatics as English, and speeches like "I'm an outcast, society sucks, my father was an alcoholic and my mother a whore" are really outdated and abundantly surpassed. In a society like the Italian one, where a murderous Roma has the opportunity to do a commercial, I wonder how one can be excluded. In all this, this bald prick even passes for the rebel of the situation, and there go the adulations from clueless teenagers. I would really like to know from this guy, of whom I'm ashamed to write the name (As improbable as his credibility) how much of the money he and his partner in crime (Mondo Marcio) have made peddling this crap they’ve donated to charity for those they call "outcasts" (Who knows!). Then they wonder why we live in the cult of the past...

"..definitely a fair commercial success." The story revealed the exact opposite: IGNORED.
