"Don't move" is first and foremost a beautiful book. The film lacks the visceral connection between Timoteo and Italia and does not emphasize the mediocrity that characterizes the protagonist. At certain points, in my opinion, the film boils down to the simple story of a man who takes a mistress, completely stripping away the significant role that the state of his daughter should play, as it does in the book. I don't know where you derived this supposed misanthropy from Castellitto and Mazzantini, as I assure you that the characters in print are all (whether right or wrong) filled with humanity and, above all, fragile. I also don't see all this pessimism towards the world in the film, and being a drama, it certainly couldn't progress without challenges. And saying that Penelope Cruz is saved is a bit reductive... she's exceptional in this film. I want to add that I agree with Poletti also because it bothers me that an American director (a good director, okay... even if he doesn't particularly excite me) comes to criticize Italian cinema, even though he is indeed in uncharted waters.

The review isn't bad. Brody Dalle has the Hole as a constant reference point, as well as other female rock bands (that some of them might suck is another story), so I don’t think you’ve exaggerated at all...

In a society like the Italian one, where a murderous Roma has the opportunity to do a commercial, I wonder how one can be excluded. In all this, this bald prick even passes for the rebel of the situation, and there go the adulations from clueless teenagers.
