Paolo Giordano La solitudine dei numeri primi
Voto:
First of all, the story of the author's precocity, laid bare in the first line, is not only relative but completely irrelevant. Paolo Giordano is only 27 years old. Alberto Moravia was 22 when he published "Gli indifferenti," Mozart was 7 when he performed at the court of Maria Theresa of Austria, etc. The story is nice, the writing is fluid, nothing more. An intimate drama told with elegance. But are we really sure it can stand up to comparison with other illustrious predecessors of the Strega Prize? Can it compete with "Non ti muovere," "Vita," "Il nome della rosa," "Ninfa plebea," "Il tempo di uccidere"? A nice and light-hearted book, to read (In a morning, no more) under the beach umbrella with the rough sea and the annoying lifeguard as I did. Let’s not be deceived by editorial phenomena, which in Italy are always short-lived, and let’s not forget the current literary standards that can lead to cries of miracle for any work that shows even a hint of common sense. (The French editorial phenomenon "L'eleganza del riccio," witty, refined, intelligent, irreverent, moving, that truly deserves it).
P.S.: Surprisingly mature in some reflections? Guys, this dude is almost thirty years old and published by Mondadori. What else could you expect...

Thank you very much for the compliments, but to elaborate would mean distorting the meaning of a review. That's why I don’t write them anymore… :))))

Wonderful review, a film rated on trust in the director, the story (already read elsewhere) and this page...

Ah well, I must say they've been less ruthless than I expected. Personally, I think he has a beautiful voice (and this is widely shared) and that he made a lot fewer mistakes than many other Italian artists. The beginnings of "Pipes and Flowers" seem interesting but immature to me (Not the best and nothing more, as many comments suggest), extraordinary "Then Comes the Sun," intensely powerful "Lotus," mind-blowing "Pearl Days." This one is less powerful, a 3 rather than a 4, but I adore it; I even saw him in concert, and it was definitely worth it. "Asile's World," the second album, was a bit of a flop, though, too many references to Bjork. As for the story with Caselli, I think he’s had a hand in the recording studio for quite a while. The choice of Italian seemed more like a voluntary return to his roots after the huge success in the USA... who knows!!

The slip about Gondry is justifiable, since both draw from the same screenwriter (Charlie Kaufman, genius)... I’m not sure if I’ll go see this one, it feels like a hoax to me too. P.S.: "Being John Malkovich is truly beautiful."
