Here I am. An unsurprising detractor. For 10 years now, TRENTatreTRENTino has been repeating itself (and not just once....). "With Teeth" was the only somewhat "different" release, but it wallowed in electroclash, a mere "sensation" of a miserable record season, and, moreover, it wasn't even danceable. Now it presents itself with some last-generation production sheen, but it dives back into some bland drones and fairly ordinary drum'n bass (just look at your "extraordinary" "Survivalism," and after declaring not wanting to push further in that direction back during "The Perfect Drug," which, by the way, is his last true stroke of genius). And, in hindsight, even "The Fragile," which from the beginning seemed excessive to me given the not-so-substantial amount of valid ideas, can be considered "the beginning of the end." If he dedicated himself exclusively to production, he would probably look better (and perhaps in the end, some real creative "insights" would present themselves). Given your analysis, only being a die-hard fan justifies the 4 stars (5/6 ugly tracks out of 14 certainly make for more than a third of the work, just saying). Well, that said, I don’t intend to HURT you ;). It's well written.

Oh, beautiful, I've never been able to stand them. As pretentious as they are insubstantial. However, the reception suits him, that is, if one has to STRUGGLE (get lost in thought) for 23.59 hours to the tune of compliments (in other words, an extremely long mental wank) just to enjoy a quickie of one minute first (the pleasure that such an album can bring doesn’t last too long), then he has a rather PITIFUL conception of lust. Forget feminism, three slaps, a bang, and off you go, or out there suffragetting on the sidewalk!!! Let's give bread to the DICK and wine to the innkeeper's wife, please.

Well, then, since I haven't bothered anyone and the topic has expanded a little, I'll chime back in and say that I only know the first Head Automatica album (Decadence), and it didn't make a great impression on me (mainly due to my lack of appreciation for the electronics of Dan "the Automator" Nakamura, who nonetheless had better outcomes with Gorillaz). The effect was similar to that of Team Sleep, a pleasant album but lacking in staying power over the long term (I haven't listened to it in about a year and a half). The work on the beats in the Cino Moreno combo is still superior (to Dj Shadow from the mid-'90s). As for Glassjaw and the possibility of a new album, I had read somewhere that one of the two (either Daryl or Beck, who are essentially the two keepers of the group's creativity) had moved to California, and that's why they were struggling to get together long enough to organically compose new material substantial enough to fill a full-length album. Meh!?!

...I didn't think they were provocative posts. Anyway, I'm sorry if I bothered you...this is the last one I'll leave, okay?! Bye.

Well, to get closer to it (to Merzbow, I know very little), aside from the Japanese power noise, I can suggest Lustmord, or :Zoviet*France: or Shinjuku Thief (which, despite the name, is Australian).

Ah, regarding the record label, actually Glassjaw were under the label of Ross Robinson (I Am Ross Records), which also had Slipknot and Amen in its catalog, among others... then Robinson had a falling out with those at Roadrunner who distributed it (and at the time the head of Roadrunner was the wife of that withered idiot Ozzy Osbourne!!!), and he moved to Warner Bros. Glassjaw decided to just stay loyal to him and not to tie themselves too closely to a label with a strictly metal (tamarro!) outlook.

You don't like it, but I do! (However, I'm one of those who originally found them a bit overrated, that is, there’s a lot going on, but mostly cooked for the pleasures of the STOMACH; it’s more like "nouvelle cuisine", you sample it, you savor it, and you THINK about the flavors and their blend for quite a while!).

Ah, in "Losten", just to please, after the line quoted in the review, just to keep up the tradition, it ends with a whisper of "Fottiti!", "And now the record's ooveeer....".

The best in their genre... in one of their albums, you can catch a bit of all the drifts of "alternative" rock (when they "hit," they're more neurotic than Coalesce). I saw them live in June 2000, opening for Deftones at the Alcatraz: impressive on stage too! Honestly, 5 stars is too much (especially because "Worship & Tribute" is worth more than this!).
