John Cage 4'33"

There is also the "performative" issue, which Cage obviously exaggerates here (but also clarifies much more than any of his predecessors), placing the instrument and the "performer" at the center of the stage and still making them adhere to a script that may seem an open "punctum" but is always determined by well-defined temporal (and even spatial) directives. Context and occasion up until the end of the nineteenth century were unavoidable in the act of execution/consumption... Cage here also operates a sort of "ad postridie" reflection on what was already theorized by Benjamin in the famous "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" (which resonated internationally precisely in those years).

Cough, cough, cough... it chokes me even when he’s not using his pseudonym... just like that other tear-jerking redhead Will Oldham... but if they’re cult figures, there must be a reason... just how cult they are, though, I’d really like to find out... the venue was beautiful and packed, I bet...

Okay, read it yesterday, but it was late... and I had come back a bit tipsy... and I didn't want to spout nonsense... Today is less late and I'm tired but I haven't done happyhappyhappyhappyhour(s)... and strangely I confirm that I saw things right (but also double) the other night... but I also remember the nonsense, and they were the following: does Zeppa do shoegaze? Are the Bombai a group of squatters and the Babilonia stoner-rockers?? I imagine Bellatrix and Betelgeuse as space-rock (a bit glitter too)!!!... and all those initial Bs, where did you pull them out from, BartleBoom??!!...

The abandonment of the old vocal stamp??! But wasn’t that his strong point?!! (And indeed, it was immediately recognizable). In the first two Devil albums, I didn’t think there was all this vocal revolution... okay, a lot less clean baritone setup... but other than that, growling has always been his strong suit, nice and thunderous... but I don’t really see Dez dealing well with screaming... but maybe I’m wrong and he’s a vocal phenomenon that transcends my narrow preconceptions. If I get the chance, I’ll gladly give it a listen. (Ah, you deserve the 4 for "New in every aspect, especially in terms of sound and the chosen path."... was the alliteration intentional??! ;).

@Finnegan: the Codeine have already "HASSASINously" and silently cut your jugular, while the Low are singing you a puerperal "contemplate and hope," miserably apotropaic!!!

The average is excellent... indeed, the first passerby who sneaks in quoting "Sonic Youth" I'll tear apart alive... and I'll make takoyaki from "Operazione Paura"!!!
