Ah, beautiful Filippo Tommaso... you can't help but give credit to someone like him... with the titles he invented... "Fast Spain and Futurist Bull", "Insecticide Patriotism", "The Steel Alcove", "Zang-Tumb-Tumb...", and to think that at first he expressed himself with Francophone lexicons... aaah, how much he has given to the Italic tongue!

Why only 2 stars? The ratings you give often clash with the tone of the review... it’s a perfect comeback film (and it has aged much better than "Il Disco Volante", which had a bit more pretension), watching it today still brings a smile (even at the naivetés, and perhaps with a more fruitful detachment compared to that of the contemporaries back then), it definitely deserves a solid enough rating.

Mmm, a little nervous, huh?! Come on, you're making jokes about chickens and you don't understand a line from "South Park" (but written by me, I've only quoted the line), if you read it again you'll get there, it's not hard...

What's the story about the bleeding chicken??!... I knew Mr. Garrison's one about the v@gi#@..."I don't trust anything that bleeds for three days every month AND DOESN'T DIE!"

No stories, Davide Toffolo trying to rebuild himself has a certain relative dignity, free to do so, but then a band musically much more genuine like Verdena shouldn't be the subject of ethical discussions (they get their hands dirty with a sound anarchy more credible than T.A.R.M.).

Of tastes, of course, I was referring more to the formal act; when one chooses to step outside the established norms of the "review" format, I prefer it to be done in a comprehensive manner (fully embracing the risks involved); that premise undermines the unsettling effect (or uncanny, to use Freud's term)...

Proper-Sheppard has slightly softened, but the dreamlike quality of this release is well illustrated by the review (not always does aging diminish one’s emotional sincerity). One thing I tend to emphasize is that the score for the writing is a 3.5 (because it slightly irks me that preface which smells of palinode; limiting yourself to the figurative description of the tracks, disregarding the need to justify your "unconventional" approach, would have made it perfect and free of unnecessary compromising acts;). I take the liberty of being a bit of a jerk; reading the rest was truly very enjoyable...
Federico Fellini 8 1/2

Fellini is the most self-assertive director that our cinema has ever given voice to (but one could also argue the opposite). I don’t love him completely and I don’t take him at face value, but I am careful not to stigmatize him. This, in any case, is above all the umpteenth well-orchestrated psychoanalytic session from the "maestro" (perhaps his best with "La Città Delle Donne"), while the metafilmic aspect hasn’t survived in such a credible way (no longer a mirror of current cinema-making but a historiographic manifesto of a "belle époque" social life, ups, another recurring theme). Contrary to what most "institutionalized critics" believe, the operational reflections of "La Nuit Américaine" find many more connections with today’s pro-film intentions (well, yes, there are also 10 years of difference, but that isn’t so foundational).

Damn... I don’t vote, proud of my principles, so as not to ruin my immaculate average... the review has the necessary attributes and they are well-armored too... but when it comes to hardcore, post-punk, I have my dictat(i), meaning, I adore many various contemporary or recent past bands (Coalesce, Will Haven, Zao, Crisis, Psyopus, Converge, Between the Buried and Me, etc, etc...) but when I go back to check out the works of the genre's founding fathers, I always end up like a boiled flounder... rough recordings, to say the least, and technique left forgotten in the cellar (or rehearsal room, for benevolence)... of course, the freshness is undeniable, and so is the genuineness of the "de profundis" approach, but to claim that the Minutemen were the most competent, instruments in hand, says a lot (and here I am struggling to listen to the early stuff of Fugazi).

'Wow, it really sold well, I've been trying to resell this C.D. for 13 years but it seems like everyone has it, really everyone, the pretty ones and (especially) the ugly ones.
