Oh, for the unreleased skits there’s always the music video for "Non mi ricordo quanti secondi a Marte," and in a more vague way, also that of "Karmacoma."

Well, the producers kicked him out... he said he refused because with that budget he would have produced at most a quarter of a film... Lynch made it "suffice" (40 million dollars... crumbs) and created the film in 140 minutes flat... "Jodorowsky" considers it a pointless film to this day; for him, it could only be rendered in no less than 5 hours of footage.

I don't like it, too "heavy," even for Kubrick. The discussion about films studied in Film Schools often comes up on Debaser...here it is!!!...90% of the shots and camera movements possible (pre H.D. and C.G.) are present in the film...I just wonder...were they really necessary?! Ehm, Poletti don't dig your own grave...leave the steadycam out of it (which has a longer and more complex history).

I've never been able to stand...when they have a "sustained" shot it's annoying...on the other hand, and more often than not, they persistently grind my gears with a sadistic stubbornness.

Shit, here it is...I made a mistake voting too...please reverse the numerical values.

Well, Supersoul, I adore that one (the dubbed version does its dirty work, ruining the sterile cut of the original diction). I don't think I can give you any suggestions (since you already know quite a lot about cinema), certainly watching it requires the right dose of emotional distance (but not intellectual). However, in a mood for self-indulgence (having seen one of the cuts of the film), I remember having a great time laughing with the rest of the semi-stunned audience. The transition from masturbation (the only one visually unexplicit, if I remember correctly) to the soccer game on TV (and after dismissing the tragically clumsy kidnapping episode) followed by the fake elegy of the family outing (with the related changes in the photography style) is truly a cinematic anthology!

I've already shared my thoughts on Antmo's review... the "...Trail of Dead" have never missed an album for me. I give the review 3.5 (damn, no one ever mentions "Life," probably the most beautifully offbeat track of the bunch!).

I agree with Supersoul, Inarritu's style is already showing strain because it's too heavy-handed. With "Amores Perros" he was able to intrigue and captivate, but now it starts to become a bit too redundant and self-referential. I'm repeating myself again shortly... among the representatives of the new Mexican "scene," in my opinion, the one with the most substance is Carlos Reygadas.

I saw it in June in a re-presentation of titles from the official selection of the Cannes festival and I wasn't particularly impressed; in fact, it completely vanished in front of the following screening: "Luz Silenciosa" by Carlos Reigadas. With only three feature films to his name, the Mexican director is already, in my opinion, one of the few essential names in today’s cinematic landscape (when it comes to auteur cinema, naturlich). I hope for its distribution (even if limited to the art-house circuit, I wouldn’t just taste it but devour it, despite fearing the adaptation, the previous two being atrocious).

Yes, but let’s not exaggerate; zen, tarot, and alchemy may have been well-preserved, but in cinema it's been around for about 40 years (and now it’s sailing toward 80)... Herzog acts too (and he had already carved out a small role in "Heart of Glass"); to see above all: "Julien Donkey-Boy" (1999) by Harmony Korine (included in the Dogma series... number 6, if I remember correctly).
