I think we're not on the same page! What I meant was that the first part, the one that's most narratively straightforward, did quite well. It's when it came to constantly reshuffling the cards and progressively turning things upside down (and at the cost of numerous detours!) that the film got bogged down in aestheticism and "tricks" for "suspense," as well as shallow identifications and lazy references, ending up with a rather "predictable" finale... it could have been something more (much more), but as it stands, it pales even in comparison to a mediocre movie like "From Dusk Till Dawn"...

For the cover... I prefer the version with the pink banana... mmmh, but is there also the sodomite apple around here???!!!

Pissi piSsi (a.k.a. P.S.): let's forget the comparisons with "Nosferatu, eine symphonie des grauens"!!! Murnau opened a deep rift in genre, Dreyer paved the way, while simultaneously blocking it! When this actually leads to remarkable developments, give me a shout and I'll be back (until then, I'll remain for this purpose "undead").

Nice one, Fidia, received from "DAMSiano" or thereabouts (well, I’ve been one too). Silent film (Dreyer is imaginative, then one can create their own "drone" as they please) turned into sound in several instances, but always in post-production. Matè’s cinematography makes a striking impression. For me, the most suitable film to watch in a slightly antithetical "consecutio" to "Ordet". Ah, if I’m not mistaken, however, the short story it’s based on is later than Stoker's. Congratulations on the choice. Work (not obvious) and director (that one a bit more) are free from any form of renunciation. This is where you MUST start if you want to understand something about TRUE cinema.

Look, Festwca just hinted at me... so I change my mind and say that the best is "Rated R"..... eh ; )

Kid s(b)arbatello, stop it!!! No matter how much you add, the vote with your nickname (not Olivieri) will only be counted once as an average for the review... do you understand????!! Here, look, I'll do you this little favor, just to spite you!!! (But I don't hate the album, actually, even though "R" is the one I prefer the most!)

Aje...if you love narrative incoherence, grab any Troma production... "Terrorfirmer" in particular is a treatise on "Aesthetics" from a Z-movie!!!

Great photograph (digital in HD, of course!), especially in the daytime "tempered"/nighttime "charged" transition. The film is enjoyable for a good half, but after the rural blood orgy, it starts to falter repeatedly, and the "predictable" final twist (French film, predictable outcomes) isn't enough to save it or live up to what the title promised. The overall pace is too fragmented for the genre...excellent analysis, Bartle ; )

Here, however, the "Earth worship" is still very strong for me; the Merzbow/power-noise "cure" that led them to produce "Flight of the Behemoth" was instead fundamental in defining a sound approach that was personal and, in perspective, promising for future developments. Genuine for sure, but also a bit immature (rating: 3.5).
