And, today, 2023, I am the ultimate expression of historic "Shoegaze"... For the series "My Bloody Valentine" who?! Yes, time can be a gentleman/lady sometimes...

With this, I'm as smooth as oil: "Discone," even though, being a boomer, I struggle to keep up with its evolution (I mean Tedua)... Then, Year of Our Lord 2023, I get a "friend" who tells me: "You should listen to the new Jethro Tull, it's a masterpiece!!!" Thank you very much. The only thing I'm sure of is that Tedua devours them alive nowadays.

Young Fathers yes, cool... Slowdive have done the live tracklist they've been offering for a year now... But I don't give a damn, as a boomer, "Everything is alive" as an album is an absolute spectacle!
Aphex Twin Drukqs
Voto:
"Drukqs" is a masterpiece, period, the entirety of RDJ's knowledge summed up in 2 hours of pure productive "Weltanschauung," almost unrepeatable; the real jokes, if we want to put it that way, are the much-lauded "Selected Ambient Works," which in over 3 hours revolve around a "onfalomaniac" vision devoid of any novelty...

And Mr. Grant Hart is no longer replicable, in every sense... Let’s leave: Hüsker Dü - The Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill as Mr. Drummer's Testament...
Mogwai Rave Tapes

Listening to it through headphones, a rather singular novelty seems to stand out in this album; despite the classic minimal yet still "fat" sound layering, they have included a lot of basic guitar "takes" that almost sound acoustic (in short, the "fingerpicking" or the rubbing on the strings is more perceptible than usual)... Anyway, as a non-fan of "Pre Gremlins Glesacni," "Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will" had made me rethink them more than necessary... : P
Daughter If You Leave

In my humble opinion, a contender for one of the best listens of 2013.
Editors The Weight Of Your Love

Actually, on a "semi-coherent" approach level, I quite like them. They've done the "pseudo post-punk" album, the more "arena rock" one, the "synth-retro" reinterpretation, and now the "American style" one (from Neil Young to Springsteen, especially "The National"), and yet they're quite distinguishable... Some saw them as a bad copy of "Interpol," but they've never made 2 identical albums, let alone 5... :D
Depeche Mode Delta Machine
Voto:
Great in intentions, not so convincing in results, but... they are Depeche Mode, 50-somethings who have realized they possess the most incredible "white soul" voice around and have tried to tailor the appropriate sound to it, like a good gang of millionaire comrades from the good old times... HERESY: Production of Justin Timberlake's latest album + Dave Gahan's voice = "Possible Milestone"?!

Ahahah, indeed (for JVD), the closest thing to "SOoA" for me is "Mount Eerie", which is the post-"Microphones" project of Phil Elverum (who, however, uses distorted electric guitar more often), while Psycho, if you've never heard anything about it, goes yes always fishing like "Microphones" on the folk/drone side but accumulating everything in a slightly different way, like a bunch of lo-fi sketches of a few minutes placed together in an almost "Cut-up" style.
