Hey, what are you doing? Are you preparing the answers in advance?

It's the first time I'm commenting on a review of this album, which I refuse to listen to even a note of until things calm down. Anyway, I hope they publish it in Hp because it has depth ;-)

The comment was for Geek... I thank Don for the intervention, and for once I agree; it doesn’t disgust me, but I don’t like it either. I greet Alessio again, with whom I never agree musically ;-)

I start from the concept that everything that has come out about Cobain after his tragic end is likely unreliable because it has probably been manipulated by those who (without deserving it) have benefited from the economic results of poor Kurt. Here on DeB, there are people (who are nice, though) who prefer that constructed character which is Hole (and I hope no one comes to tell me they disagree with this statement) rather than Amos. Therefore, to avoid useless controversies that would not ascertain any absolute truth, I won't dwell too much on the reference you make about what she and Cobain did with Amos's cover (something, in my opinion, fabricated by Hole given the clear animosity that existed between the two at the time of Amos's "almost" relationship with Reznor, which the "Professional Widow" (i.e., Hole) viewed with disdain for some reason, or maybe we know the reason well...). However, I don't believe in the first version either; the truth will likely be somewhere in the middle, meaning Cobain was neither enthusiastic (given Amos's "haunted castle" take on it) nor annoyed, as it was still an homage. But I'll give you my personal opinion: Tori likes to deconstruct the originals, and starting from the fact that she distinctly prefers the solo piano arrangement, it’s obvious that the versions are often transformed in ways that vary significantly depending on the listener's sensitivity. The cover of "Smells Like" has never impressed me much (mainly because I’ve never found this song incredible; within "Nevermind," almost all tracks are better), but it was probably chosen as a single because it was more suited to radio. There are actually two schools of thought: those who want covers as faithful as possible to the original and those who prefer reinterpreted versions. Essentially, Tori always does the latter, taking it to the extreme, so much so that often (see, for example, almost all the songs on "Strange Little Girls"), one can speak of songs ex novo. (A different operation in terms of means but similar in concept was done by A Perfect Circle in "Emotive.") It’s obvious that this also happens for listeners; for example, good Azzo (rightfully so, even if I obviously disagree) thinks that Amos is just a good interpreter, so he doesn’t consider the rewriting attempt she makes and thus expresses largely negative judgments. Others don't appreciate the fact that an angry song like "Smells Like" is redone in a minimal-dramatic version, while others are excited by exactly these facts.
I always think with pleasure that after covering "Raining Blood," Slayer called her to thank her (and you know well the "extreme" work she did on that piece..) and sent her the T-shirt of "God Hate Us All," or Joe Jackson, who in Paris performed the version of "Real Men" covered by Amos. These are artists, fortunately, still with us, and therefore, what comes out about them is always subject to confirmation or denial. Unfortunately, poor Kurt is not—let’s cherish the mystery because I don’t think it changes the fact that, in the end, it’s subjectivity in evaluations that emerges, and also because (partly because of me, and I take responsibility for it) it has been too disturbed these days. Bye!

No Alessio, sorry, it's probably my fault for not explaining myself well there. Bye! Thanks also to Mary.
