Damn, you're not alone, this album is being overrated for some reason; after some time, when the "collective madness" (in an affectionate sense) calms down, it will be understood why. Comparisons are always ugly to make, but if we talk about intimate female singer-songwriter music, how can we give a 4 or 5 to this compared to "Geek the Girl" (and I won't mention my favorite artist whom you know to avoid controversy, but just randomly another one of the countless better than this, in every sense) when we give 150,000?
This is a cute album made by a great artist in clear creative crisis (already from the previous one..) who has taken up an instrument that is not hers (and God, you can tell...) that nonetheless has produced a more than decent product, let's say a 3.5.. but the masterpieces of the genre are elsewhere.

@Black: well, White had been with Brian since the beginning, and his influence was crucial; he should definitely be considered a member of the Marilyn Manson project (thought out on paper for thirty... that's what the malicious say...) but I think that in all their albums, the Reverend's touch is present... then of course, over the years, he has also become a bit daft... the latest one is proof of that...

Apart from Solitude Standing, 99.9°F is a really great album in my opinion.

No, Lariana, Suzanne has created masterpieces, just not this one.

I like shooting at the Red Cross, (and often, therefore, at myself since I pleasantly alternate the roles..), I’ve only heard the name mentioned but from the influences you cite, it could interest me (especially for the Bat for Lashes). I'll see if I can dig deeper.

@Black: it may be, but "Holy Wood," for example, is a great album (for me), and Brian worked "almost" alone on it, so he must have some quality, come on...nothing to do with Trentino, obviously ;-)

"Bowie of metal," "greatest album," oh my, how many of these do I have to read?
You don't have to read everything that comes by on DeB...

For some reason, the links (2) to the Debaser reviews won't open. Editors, can you do something? Thank you...
