@Ole: thank you! Unknowingly, as Male says, you must have definitely listened to something.. @Ecioso: me too, even when sober.. @Bamboccione: I agree on the historical value of the song; I'm pretty convinced that Pop has historical merits far greater than those usually attributed to it. Regarding ABBA, I think it really depends on purely personal viewpoints; I can understand why they might be annoying to many..

@Bartle: your point of view is absolutely correct; I just wanted to emphasize that a site like this also thrives on "nonsense" by editorial choice, so I fully agree with the discussion about form (spelling, punctuation, etc. etc.) and I would also agree with the one about substance, but it must be said that generally, trash reviews get more views than many others that are much more cultured, and the site thrives on this as well. Personally, I try to avoid them, but I can’t reprimand those who want to comment on them, as it's in the spirit of the site (at least it seems to me). I don’t know, maybe there are a lot of people who take themselves too seriously, and often from this arise "trash" disputes that are far worse than any review of AlBano or a duplicate of the Nirvana ones (I apologize to the "reviewer" for taking up her space inappropriately, and I clarify that I don’t think her review is trash at all, quite the opposite). I think the real problem of DeB is that it stems from another inviolable principle, namely the lack of moderators... Best wishes to you too, dear!

I don't really know him at all, do you think (since you know my tastes by now) I might like him?

I couldn't have done better :-), well done! An impeccable review, though you might be a bit too generous with this album, which showcases overly ostentatious '80s clichés. Still, it’s not a bad album; the problem arises when you compare it to the production that the redhead would bring to life in a few years. Still, a 3 for affection. @Black: no problem, always after her... ;-)

"erogati" ;-), I think that the reviews in HP were written before the Editors’ reprimand (because mine about ABBA was, and I hope it’s not among those "accused"), but I don’t understand if the Editors' outburst is more about the fact that many reviewers present texts that are difficult to edit (and here I share the request) or about the quality of the reviewed proposals or about the countless number (sorry for the pun..) of Duplicates (and here I share less because in this case, they have the formidable weapon of not even publishing...). Bye!

Thank you all for stopping by. As I imagined, the main theme of the discussion revolves around the "musical" meaning of ABBA and the sense of their reevaluation. I will put the first topic on standby for a moment to delve deeper into the second... So, this writing of mine is absolutely not an attempt to reevaluate ABBA (after all, they don’t need it, given that they’re still doing incredibly well) but just a tribute, made in a mocking and light-hearted way, to a group that I still find entertaining and that for various reasons (perhaps not just musical) has remained in the public imagination. The various comparisons I see above with "stars" of Italian pop music (including the Jalisse) don’t seem warranted to me because, apart from a decidedly pop inspiration, they shared none of the internationalist and stubbornly aggressive spirit that characterized the four Nordics, leading them to write an impressive series of melodies in just over 10 years, which, whether we like it or not, have remained with us as a fixed point of Pop inspiration. I’m sure that in 30 years, Spears will be reevaluated, but I don’t know if it will be due to the strength of the songs she proposed or for mere reasons of fashion (as will happen for Take That, Spice, etc., etc.). In the case of ABBA, what has remained are their songs and certainly not their image. That said, I can’t certainly claim they were geniuses of musical art, but I am fascinated by their light style that is also willful and, as I already mentioned, completely aimed at success without any national barriers (and with their style, overcoming any national boundary is truly hard... there are millions of examples that can be made, but the name that always pops up is theirs), and the review stems from this spirit. @Ramona: Thanks for stopping by. @Dream: No, not this year… last year I had the tagliolini in broth… @Opaltide: Thank you, it’s one of the nicest compliments I’ve received so far. Happy New Year to you too! @Iside: I'll note that down. @Alessio: You caught me ;-) @Lord: I agree with the analysis. @Green: Thank you too for stopping by. @Male: Let me know when you kick off the collection so I can create a bunch of fakes... @Bubi: Hi there! @Cornell: It’s always nice to see you in my reviews. @Sylvian: Your opinion, as usual, is very authoritative, plus you know the facts better than I do, as I couldn't see them ā€œliveā€ due to age-related issues. I just want to reiterate that mine is not a reevaluation but just a tribute to a phenomenon that I truly find unique and unrepeatable. @Longlive: I agree.
