I had heard it in passing when it came out last year. I believe I will delve into it more thoroughly.

Good job DeMa! Always a pleasure to read you! Even though I'm not "inside" the world of Les Claypool, you made me understand that it must be a nice, light, fun album for an afternoon with friends :)

They have a certain something of Swans, among the many shades of the tracks. Excellent review, I had no doubt about it :)

I watched this film last night at the cinema. Technically it is perfect, and the fact that it was shot in 70mm adds more depth to every frame. The slow start, a bit didactic and descriptive, does not detract from the film at all, in fact: it creates anticipation in the viewer for what will happen in the last hour. The actors are outstanding, without exception (if Samuel L. Jackson had received an Oscar nomination, he would have made Di Caprio tremble) and the sharp dialogues are spectacular. And Morricone's music? It never intrudes forcefully into the scenes; it stays in the background and peeks out every now and then, but it gives the key scenes an extra touch of mastery. I loved everything about this film; personally, I believe it is Tarantino's best (I find Kill Bill and Death Proof quite awful). Five stars without a doubt.

So, yesterday I watched this movie on Sky. I had been advised to watch it in the original language, and that's exactly what I did. Hearing Julianne Moore's voice gradually lose its liveliness and tone, seeing her eyes dim progressively until they became just two lifeless irises. She, the only true star of the film, did not perform grandiosely to make herself noticed or to win an Oscar. She did the exact opposite: she slowly removed herself from the center of the film as an actress to perfectly embody the woman suffering from Alzheimer's. And this is precisely the winning card of the movie: the fact that it does not depict the drama of a woman, but "simply" the acceptance of the disease by Alice and her family. Wonderful, I was expecting something more "exaggerated"; I was anticipating a film with forced drama, and instead, I was surprised by the dry style, by the lack of a forced emotional imprint on the viewer.

I agree with your review, which is very well written. But I also agree with those who say that the film is too long: indeed, the two and a half hours can be tiring, making the film less "engaging" at certain points. Lubetzki's cinematography is stunning, especially considering that only natural lighting was used.

I'm a bit scared of these Danish guys :D but the review is nice, I read it with pleasure. Good job as usual!

They initially seemed interesting to me… now I’ve scaled back. This album has some interesting moments (the singles basically), but everything else feels rather flat and boring. Great review though, well done :)

What a beautiful writing! I promise that this time I'll make an effort and listen to this album :-)

RIP David. Another legend has left us... shaken by the news. I can't even comment on the album, which I've listened to too little to judge. The review is nice, but if you had separated it into paragraphs, it would have been smoother to read...
