Up here on DeBaser, you act like great connoisseurs of music, but it seems you only listen to Metallica and Dream Theater, since they alone account for half of the reviews on this site.

When I read certain things, I understand that the true disease of the youth of our time is boredom, and nothing else.

The truth is that the first time you listened to black metal, you thought, "Wow! You don't necessarily need melody to make music; seemingly harsh sounds can convey a range of alternative meanings!" Realizing this simple fact ONE DAY DOES NOT AUTHORIZE YOU to talk about "an exclusive circle." You haven't studied for 10 years to understand and appreciate Indonesian gamelans or the avant-garde music of the late twentieth century, and black metal is followed by millions of people around the world, all strangely in a rather young age group. It seems a bit contradictory to the elitism that you so attribute to your genre, don't you think?

Gustavo, let me understand: the gist of this review is that you were ASTONISHED that Jovanotti sucks?... I mean... are you messing with us?

Newromantic, I don't know how to express my admiration for the beauty of your words... tell me it's not your own and you've copied it from somewhere, otherwise I'm forced to elect you my new idol, huahuahauha

Comment number 38: look, it's the same rap fans who demand "honesty" and "truth" from their idols. After all, even the most significant representatives of the genre always emphasize sincerity, competing with each other over who had the toughest childhood, who risked their life the most times, how many bullets they've taken, and how big their entourage of prostitutes is, and so on. It's obvious and taken for granted that 99.9% of these stories are products of imagination, and even the most die-hard supporters of the genre know this very well, though they will never admit it. In reality, it's all just a gigantic game that conceals (rather poorly, I would say) the sad need to play a role at all costs.

By now, no one believes in the little tale of the street rapper "forced" by life to become violent. Many, practically everyone, create a fake persona just to keep repeating the same old clichés about guns, cocaine, hookers, and a hard life, when at this point, if they really cared about the much-touted "honesty" (we know, rap is a "true" genre), they could seriously talk about themselves and try to be different and innovative in their own way. But the truth is they have nothing interesting to say, and then people would realize they are just a bunch of frauds. Just like in all other genres, they only play the role that the audience expects to see, so much for sincerity. And then, those who really have serious problems in life don’t have time to sit down and make rap; it seems so obvious...

Kindofblue: since when is a metalhead good at playing? At best, they might be able to line up a certain number of notes more or less accurately and feel proud of it, ignoring that this is the bare minimum even for the worst of musicians. If you're looking for serious people who won't waste your time in the rehearsal room, take my advice: change your environment.
